Will of Richard Whatton, that whereas master Thomas Lyseux and master William Spreuer are enfeoffed in certain lands etc. in Batrichsey co. Surrey by his charter dated 17 April 28 Henry VI, that is to say whereas John Stanley esquire and the said Richard have put themselves 'in awarde' of the same Thomas and William of the sum of money to be paid to the same Richard for the purchase of the land etc. to be had of the same John, if he die his wife shall have the money 'what hir lust,' and in case the feoffees accord not, that she have the land to herself and her children of him begotten, and if his children die his wife shall have it 'to do withall what hur lust.' Dated as above. English.
Will of Richard Whatton esquire, dated London, 8 April 29 Henry VI, of his lands, rents, reversions and services in the town and fields of Notyngham or elsewhere in Notynghamshire whereof William Babyntgon esquire or others to his use are enfeoffed as security for a debt to him of 105 marks, and others whereof John Ketull clerk rector of Goteham, John Dawes clerk and Robert Clyfton esquire are enfeoffed to the testator's use, that William Babyngton in preference to others shall have the first, if he will buy them, for 300 marks payable to Alice wife of the testator at days to be limited, deducting therefrom the sum which the testator owes him, otherwise if he refuses so to do within a quarter of a year after the testator's death or his being required, those lands shall remain after payment of that debt to the said Alice or her nominees, their heirs and assigns: request that the said William shall perform this will, and make the said Alice a good estate in the said lands when required, and John Ketill and the others likewise.

Indenture tripartite, written at Westminster 10 April 29 Henry VI, of award by Piers Idle esquire and William Chittok arbitrators on the part of John Delaber bishop of Seynt David, and David Selly esquire and John Smyth on the part of Patrike Devy dyer of Bristowe for a ship called Mary de Montrigo laden with merchandise (for which ship 'debates' have long been moved between William Skyrmot of Bristowe, deceased, and Patrike Devy and which Skyrmot gave by deed to the bishop), that the bishop shall deliver the ship with all the apparel and 'abilimentes of werre' etc. belonging to it or which belonged to it at its last arrival from Burdeux in whose hands soever they may be, and for himself and his heirs and for William Skyrmot, his heirs and executors shall warrant and quitclaim it to Patryke for a year and a day in any court of the king 'withynne the grounde of Englond' against anyone pretending a right thereto and shall release all actions; that Patryke shall release likewise, and shall pay the bishop or his assigns 200 marks, that is to say 20 marks forthwith, 62l. at Michaelmas next, 29l. at Michaelmas 1452, and 29l. at Easter following. And that this should be kept, each party was bound in 400l. and one part of this indenture was to remain in chancery. English.

Condition, that Reynold de Barensellis merchant of Florence shall abide the award of John cardinal archbishop of York the chancellor, arbitrator chosen by the said Robert and him, touching all trespasses and debates pending between them.

William Brocas the elder esquire to Joan wife of Lawrence Stonard and the heirs male of her body, with reversion to the said William, his heirs and assigns. Confirmation indented of the estate for life which she has by demise of Philip Baynard and Simon Alman in all the messuages, lands, rents, reversions and services in Shirbourne Seyntjohn co. Suthampton which they had by feoffment of William Brocas, and he by feoffment of Oliver Brocas her father, with remainder to the said William, his heirs and assigns.
