Memorandum of acknowledgment, 7 June this year.

July 12. To the sheriff of Canterbury. Order to attach William Rose (see No. 596) so that he appear in chancery at Michaelmas next to answer John Byngley, servant of John Blythe keeper of the rolls, concerning a debt of 40s. which he unjustly withholds.

May 24. Indenture between John Isley esquire, and Richard Coke of Havant co. Southampton, whereby Richard sold to John all his lands etc. in Framfeld, Bukested, Ukkefeld and Mayfeld co. Sussex, sometime of Richard Threle for 60l.: and it is agreed that Richard and Joan his wife will ensure the same to John by fine or recovery discharged of all dowers etc.: and after Easter, 1497, John will pay Richard 40l., whenever any person sell Richard lands in Sussex or Hampshire before estate made, to Richard and Joan and their heirs, with remainder to John Isley: and if Richard cannot find the money, John will pay it, and will grant them a life rent of 40s. with clause of distraint till estate be made: and the residue will be paid in nine years, by stated instalments. And if Richard perform all covenants expressed in these indentures John will void his bond of 100 marks. Dated (as above). English.
