To the abbot of Westminster and to the preservers of the privileges of the abbot and convent and their commissaries. Prohibition of any attempt which may tend to contempt of the king or prejudice of his crown and dignity, or to impair the liberties etc. of the chapel of St. Stephen in Westminster palace, or the chancellor's jurisdiction, and order to revoke any attempt so made, at their peril not troubling the dean contrary to the said liberties, and certifying in chancery any reasonable cause wherefore they ought not so to do; as the same is the king's free chapel which, with the dean and canons and ministers thereof, is exempt from all jurisdiction of the ordinary save that of the king's chancellor; and the said abbot etc. have caused the king's clerk William de Sleford dean of the said chapel to be cited in the court christian touching business which concerns the jurisdiction of the chapel, unlawfully striving to hold a plea before them or elsewhere and so to draw to them or otherwise impair the chancellor's jurisdiction.
