John Frost citizen and 'stokfisshemonger' [of] London, otherwise called John Frost of Romeney, to John Chircheman and Robert Chircheman citizens of London and James de Billyngforde clerk. Recognisance for 20l., to be levied etc. in Kent.
Jan. 7.
Westminster.
To the abbot and convent of Dieulencresse co. Stafford. Order and request to take again letters patent by them made to John Rose at the king's command concerning a maintenance in that abbey, if he will give them up, and to admit Matthew de Swetenham one of the yeomen of the king's chamber, and grant him that maintenance for life, making him letters patent under the common seal of their house, and writing again by the bearer what they will do; as the said John is minded that the said Matthew shall have all his estate therein, praying the king's assent. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of William Taunton of Gloucestershire, Ralph Hale of Lincolnshire and Thomas Wilteshire of Cambridgeshire, in favour of Philip de Fretheby at suit of Andrew de Swardeby of London 'taillour' averring threats; and order to set the defendant free if taken.
