To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas omnino, by mainprise of Robert Malteby 'bladsmyth,' Richard Savage 'cordewaner,' William Coteler and John Kent 'taillour' of London, in respect of taking of John White of London 'skryvener' and Ellen his wife security for keeping the peace at suit of any of the people.
Like writ, by the same mainprise, in favour of Margaret Whitay.

To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of John Seymour, Thomas Beverle 'grocer,' both of London, William Trent of Somerset and William Shrouesbury of Bristol, in favour of Thomas Danyel servant of Richard Spicer of Bristol at suit of John Peris of Bristol for debt.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40l., made in chancery 6 September this year by Roger Bolle, John Pounde, Richard James and William Shrauesbury for David Walsman, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Robert Laurence and Christiana Routh.

John Norton citizen and grocer of London to John Garton esquire, his heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of all the lands, rents and services in Leesnes, Erhithe, Earde, Wellynges and Bixle and elsewhere in Kent which John Garton had by feoffment of John Norton. Witnesses: William atte Wode, Robert Draper, Henry Bailly, John Aylleward, Philip Cheseman, William Tychawd the elder, Thomas Rokeslee. Dated Leesnes, 28 September 22 Richard II.

Robert de Faryngton clerk, now about to sail to foreign parts, to Master William de Faryngton his brother. Letter of attorney, appointing the said William his receiver, proctor and representative, with general powers. Dated London, Monday the morrow of the Nativity of the Virgin 22 Richard II.

Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100 marks, made in chancery 3 November this year by Thomas Lancastre esquire of Worcestershire, Robert Gare of Yorkshire, John Ryder chaplain of Suffolk and John Barnaby of Lincolnshire for John de Walyngton, that he shall do or procure no hurt of harm to Richard Cappere otherwise called Richard Porter 'bedel' of Algate.'

To the sheriff of Berkshire. Order to give notice to Roger archbishop of Canterbury to be in chancery at the quinzaine of St. Hilary next, which day the king has given to Stephen Bertilmewe of the diocese of Salisbury, in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the said Stephen's appeal; as at the archbishop's request, signifying that by his authority as ordinary the said Stephen was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify him by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the papal see, and is purposed to prosecute his appeal as he avers; and Thomas Lancastre of Worcestershire, Edmund Grey of Northumberland, William Wyndele of Herefordshire and Reynold Sheffelde the younger of Berkshire have mainperned in chancery to have him there on the aforesaid day.

Coventry.
To J. bishop of Coventre and Lichefeld. (fn. 1) Nomination of John Repynton to receive the pension wherein by reason of his new creation the bishop is bound to one of the king's clerks, until by him provided with a benefice. By p.s. [12002.]
Thomas Classhe, son and heir of John Classhe of 'Southmolton,' to Warin Waldegrave esquire, Adam Bacoun and Thomas Peyntour, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of all the lands, rents, reversions, services etc. in Toryton, Barnestaple, Southmolton Wode, Kynges Nympton and elsewhere in Devon, Bruggewater, Boure, Kerdesbury, Blakelonde and elsewhere in Somerset which they have by his charter of feoffment in fee simple; and grant with warranty of the reversion of the manor of Coleton in the parish of Chilmelegh and all lands in Devon now held for life by the courtesy of England by Thomas Sutton with reversion to the grantor; and because his seal is to many unknown he has procured that the seal of office of the mayor of Norhampton he hereto appended. Dated Norhampton, 26 December 21 Richard II. Witnesses: William Shefforde mayor of Norhampton, William Begeworth and John Gregory bailiffs, Thomas Sprygy, John Shrouesbury, Henry Caysho.

To Hugh Huls and John Markham, appointed with others by letters patent of 23 August last, the said Hugh or John being one, justices to hear and determine certain alleged trespasses against Walter bishop of Durham committed by William Bekke, Robert Marton, both of Ellirker, Richard Santon, of 'Northcave' William West, William Dawson, both of 'Northcave,' Richard Crosse, Peter Halgarth, both of 'Southecave,' William Blacomore of 'Northcave' and William Broune of 'Southecave.' Order to continue the process before them in the state wherein it now is, and writ of supersedeas until the quinzaine of Easter next in respect of any process against the defendants, that meantime there may be speech and treaty of a final concord between the parties.
