Provision to him, a canon of the church of Orkney, who is at the apostolic see, of the said church, void by the resignation to the present pope of bishop Thomas, and therefore ipso facto reserved.Apostolatus officium.

Mandate, at the recent petition of Patrick Madour, a monk of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Newbotille, in the diocese of St. Andrews, a licentiate in theology (fn. 3) (containing that, on the said monastery becoming void by the death of Thomas, the convent duly elected as abbot the said Patrick, who had made his open profession and was a priest and of lawful age, and that he consented to the election; and adding that some doubt whether the election holds good) if he find that the election was lawful, to approve and confirm it by papal authority; if not (alioquin), and if he find Patrick fit, to make provision to him of the monastery, value not exceeding 40l. sterling, equal to 100 gold florins of the Camera. The said bishop is to bless him or cause him to be blessed by another catholic bishop, and he or such bishop is thereafter to receive from him the usual oath of fealty according to the form enclosed, and send it as soon as possible to the pope by Patrick's (suas) letters patent sealed with Patrick's (suo) seal by the above or such other bishop's envoy (per proprium nuncium quantotius destinare procures seu procuret). 4 Non. Dec. (2 Dec.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 82.)	To Donatus Oconcubayr, elect of Killala (Aladen.) Provision to him, a Friar Preacher, in priest's orders, of the church of Killala, of which, on its voidance by the death of Bernard, the present pope made provision to the late Mylerus, by whose death at the apostolic see, without having had possession of the rule and administration, and without the letters of his provision having been expedited, the see is again void and reserved. Apostolatus officium.

Prid. Non. Dec. (4 Dec.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 84d.)	To Donatus, elect of Killala. Faculty to him, to whom the pope has recently (pridem) made provision of the said church, to be consecrated by any catholic bishop of his choice, assisted by two or three like bishops, and for such bishops to consecrate him, after having first received from him the usual oath of fealty according to the from appended. The pope decrees that if such bishop presume to consecrate him without having received the said oath, and if Donatus presume to receive consecration, such bishop shall be eo ipso suspended from the exercise of the pontifical office, and both he and Donatus from the administration of their respective churches. Further, Donatus is to send as soon as possible to the pope by his own envoy the said form of oath by his letters patent sealed with his seal (fn. 5); without prejudice to the archbishop of Tuam, to whom the said church is by metropolitical right subject. 1461[–2]. Id. Feb. (13 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 114d.)	To the vicar-general of the bishop of Coventry and Lichfield. Mandate as below. The pope has learned that the nun's monastery or priory of Nunneton. of the order of Fontevraud. in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, exempt from the jurisdiction of the ordinary, and dependent on the monastery of Fontevraud in the diocese of Angers and subject to the father-abbot thereof, and wont to be visited by him or by his mandate, is in need of reform (fn. 6) on account of the lack of such visitation, which has long been impossible by reason of wars etc., and also on account of the neglect of the prioresses and especially of Maud the present prioress; and that sometimes the prioress is elected by simony and sometimes by force, (fn. 7) and that the prioress thus elected alienates etc. and converts to her damnable uses the goods of the priory, leads an unhonest and criminous life, commits perjury [and] notoriously perpetrates the crime of incontinence and incest, even (fn. 8) with divers religious. The pope therefore, wishing to remedy the foregoing, from which, as he has learned, Agnes Porter, nun and claustral prioress of the said priory, has in the presence of grave persons appealed to the apostolic see, hereby motu proprio orders the above vicar-general to join to himself the abbot of St. Mary's de Pratis, Leicester (Leycestri) in the diocese of Lincoln, or the abbot of St. Mary's Merevale (de Maravalle [sic]) in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, repair in person to the said priory and exercise therein, both in spirituals and temporals, the office of visitation for this turn only, and grants them faculty to correct, imprison and punish with due pains prioress Maud and any others of the nuns, of whatsoever rank etc., in accordance with their crimes, deprive and remove them, and appoint others in their stead, etc. Super gregem dominicum. 146[1? ]. — (fn. 9) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 238d.)	To the archdeacon of Derry (Deren.), Patrick Omergay, a canon of the same, and the prior of St. Mary, Dungerbhin, in the diocese of Derry. Mandate to cause Henry Olonain, clerk, of the diocese of Derry, to be received as a monk of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Macosquin (de Claro fonte alias de Mogoscan), in the said diocese, and cause the regular habit to be given to him, and to give it him, and moreover to receive his regular profession. To John Snayth, prior of the priory of North Feriby. of the [order of the] hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, in the diocese of York. Dispensation to him, who holds the said priory, and has made the profession wont to be made by the brothers of the said hospital, to receive and retain for life in commendam with the priorship, which is not claustral nor a conventual dignity, and the value of which the pope holds to be expressed by these presents, any benefice wont to be governed by secular clerks, even if it be a chantry or a perpetual chaplaincy or a parish church or its perpetual vicarage, or be of the patronage of laymen, and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases.
