To the abbot of the monastery de Rosualle alias de Rosglas in the diocese of Kildare (Daren.), and the dean of Kildare. Mandate to collate and assign to Donald Ofehcna, clerk, of the diocese of Leighlin (who was dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to minor orders [and hold a benefice without cure], and afterwards by papal authority to be promoted to all, even holy orders and receive and retain a benefice even with cure, after which first dispensation he was made a clerk; and who for fear of the below-named Edmund cannot safely meet him in the city and diocese of Leighlin), the rural church of St. Pheganus de Slebte, without cure, and the parish church of Ratharlath, in the said diocese, value not exceeding 3 and 1 marks sterling respectively, so long void that by the Lateran statutes their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Edmund Omorra, clerk, who is to be summoned and removed, has, without any title and without any tittle of right, detained possession of the said church of St. Pheganus for between two and three years. Mandate to collate and assign to Isaac Omullalaydh, canon of Elphin (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to minor orders and receive and retain a benefice without cure, and afterwards by papal authority to receive and retain a canonry of Elphin and the prebend of Tormondbearaygh therein, to which the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Kyllosagilean in the diocese of Elphin was annexed for his life, in the event of their being collated to him in virtue of certain papal letters by which provision was ordered to be made to him thereof, and who after the said [first] dispensation was made a clerk), the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Kylleaym (fn. 2) in the diocese of Clonfert, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, void by the resignation of Cornelius Ycassan to Matthew, bishop of Clonfert; whether it be so void, or because the said Cornelius has entered the Third Order of St. Francis, called the Order of Penance, and has made the wonted regular profession involving the voidance of benefices, (fn. 3) or by the death of Maurus Ykeallaydh, or in any other way; notwithstanding that he holds the said canonry and prebend, the value of which and of the said annexed vicarage does not exceed 14 marks sterling. To the prior of Holy Trinity, Lothwothir, in the diocese of Kilmore, and the archdeacon and John Ogoband, canon, of Kilmore. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by John Macculmartayn, canon of Kilmore, that Thomas Osiriden, rector of the parish church of St. Bridget, Nurnagy alias Kade, in the diocese of Kilmore, has committed perjury and simony, and, being under sentence of excommunication for the said simony and publicly proclaimed excommunicate, has taken part in divine offices in contempt of the Keys, thereby incurring irregularity. The pope therefore hereby orders the above three, if the said John, who, as a result of a shipwreck has the tip of the middle finger and the nail of the index finger of his right hand paralysed, (fn. 4) will accuse Thomas before them, to summon Thomas and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, without cure and value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, to John; notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and prebend of Kilmore, to which the parish church of Enagallib in the said diocese is annexed, value together not exceeding 3 marks sterling. Mandate to collate and assign to John Ocosside, priest, of the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo (who alleges that he was formerly dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to minor orders, and afterwards by papal authority to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which dispensations he was promoted to all holy orders; and that both the archbishop of Tuam and the bishop of Mayo, contending about the diocese, ordained that whosoever should in any impetration express the diocese alternatively, to wit, the diocese of ‘Tuam alias Mayo,’ should lose the advantage of his letters), (fn. 5) the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Burges Wbhayll’ alias Lochaens in the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, so long void by the death of Cristinus Oruylle that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Malachy Oflannagan and John Oconcubair, priests, who are to be summoned and removed, have divided it between them and held possession of it for some time, although for less than a year, without any canonical title; whether it be void as above, or by the death of Lewis Yubayn, or by the non-promotion [to the priesthood] of the late John de Burgo, or by the resignation of the said Cristinus or Lewis, or in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Thady Oseariham, priest, of the diocese of Ardfert, that Thomas Olonchy, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Kilcumin in the said diocese, has been a notorious fornicator, after canonical admonition, and has dilapidated the goods of the said vicarage), if the said Thady will accuse the said Thomas before the above three, to summon Thomas and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 7 marks sterling, to Thady; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of Thomas Ycellaydh, or by the free resignation of the said Thomas Ylonchy, or in any other way. To the prior of St. Mary's, Ayrdeatthan (recte Ayrdchatthan), (fn. 6) in the diocese of Argyll, and the archdeacon and the treasurer of Argyll. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Nigel (Negelus) Obrolachan, clerk, of the diocese of Sodor, that Nigel Macfaly, rector of the parish church of St. Michael in Kyntir(e), of lay patronage, and Fyllanus Magiliduff, perpetual vicar in the parish church of St. Columba in Kintire, in the diocese of Argyll, have dilapidated the goods of the said church and vicarage, that Nigel Macfaly has committed simony, that Fyllanus has sometimes (aliquociens) let the parishioners of the said vicarage die without confession and the administration of the sacraments, and that they have committed divers other crimes, etc., to the shame of the priestly dignity; and the petition of the said Nigel Obrolachan contained that if the said church of St. Michael and vicarage, which are close together, were united it would be to their very great advantage. The pope therefore hereby orders the above three, if the said Nigel Obrolachan will accuse the said Nigel Macfaly and Fyllanus before the said three, to summon them and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove them, and in that event to collate and assign the said church and vicarage, which has cure of souls, value not exceeding 6 and 4 marks sterling respectively, to the said Nigel Obrolachan, and in the event of their so doing, to summon those concerned, and if they find the facts about the said union to be as stated, to unite the said church of St. Michael and vicarage in perpetuity, etc. Vite etc. (P. and Pe. de Godis. | P. xxv. To the prior of Buttevant (Botthonie) in the diocese of Cloyne (Clonen.), and the archdeacon and Maurice Ossuliband, canon, of Cloyne. [Mandate]—the pope having been informed by Donatus Oconbagyth, priest, of the diocese of Cloyne, that Donald Ossuliband, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Drissean alias Bylmide (sic) in the diocese of Ardfert, has committed simony, dilapidated the goods of the said vicarage, and for several years has not resided in the said vicarage; and the recent petition of the said Donatus containing that the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Raydleryn in the said diocese of Cloyne, in suis—with which words the letter, which is cancelled, comes to an end. The only subscription is that of ‘A. de Piscia,’ in the usual place, the right-hand margin at the top. On the opposite page, f. 175d, is a false start of the same letter, also cancelled. |

(fn. 7) in the said diocese, of lay patronage and value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, void by the death of Thady (Tacianus) Onari; whether it be so void, or by the death of John de Angulo, or in any other way, and provided that the patrons consent. To the prior of St. Mary's, Dunghemin, in the diocese of Derry (Deren.), and Clement Ofhirghil and Patrick Omhergaidh, canons of Raphoe and Derry. Mandate, at the recent petition of John Ohennagha, subdeacon, of the diocese of Derry (containing that after provision had been made to him by authority of the ordinary of the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Bentor in the said diocese, on its voidance by the death of Patrick Okorton, he in virtue of the said provision obtained possession, and held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, and without dispensation, and continued to do so for about three months after the lapse of the said year, as he still does, so that the vicarage is still void by the said non-promotion), to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to the said John, whom the pope hereby rehabilitates on account of the foregoing.
