Footnotes

  • 1. On the back of the volume is the usual modern description in Italian:Paolo ii. 1470–71. Anno 6. 7. Lib. 39, and on a modern end-paper is Mgr. Wenzel's ‘An. 7. to. 18.’ There is no contemporary end-paper with the contemporary description, but the latter occurs as usual, although not very legible, on the bottom edge of the volume, viz., ‘xxxix. de beneficiis vacaturis anno primo domini Pauli pape ii.’ It also occurs on the top edge. There appear to be, at first sight, i.–clxvi. ff. + 2 unnumbered leaves at the end, but there are really about twice as many, the foliator having adopted the very unusual plan of numbering the documents in the volume, instead of the leaves.
  • 2. See the preceding note.
  • 3. ‘Lithton’ in the concurrent mandate.
  • 4. He was an abbreviator of letters apostolic, and belonged to the diocese of Barcelona (Barchinonen.), e.g. on f. 105d of the present Register.
