To the official of Limerick. Mandate to collate and assign to David Ocormachan, rector of the rectory of the places or members, called parish churches, of Ardacha, Lailymy, Fyecail, Killwrayn and Occonnayle, in the diocese of Killaloe (fn. 2) (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy and priest's orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and who has been promoted to all the said orders and has by canonical collation obtained the said rectory, which is of lay patronage), the deanery of Killaloe, a major elective dignity with cure, value 20 marks sterling, so long void that there is no certain knowledge of the way of its voidance, and that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see; whether it be void by the death extra R.c. of Thomas Icormachayn, late possessor thereof, or be void in any other way. The pope hereby dispenses him to receive the said deanery, and to retain it for life with the said rectory, or to receive and retain for life any two other benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if, etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. To the archdeacon of St. Andrews. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of David Erch, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, contained that on the voidance of the perpetual vicarage of Kunthiathyn in the said diocese by the death of David Hude extra R.c. the present prior and the convent of the monastery of Inchmahome (Insula sancti Colmocii), O.S.A., in the diocese of Dunblane, presented the said David Erch to William, [now archbishop] elect, then appointed by the apostolic see administrator in spirituals and temporals, of the church of St. Andrews, who refused to institute him, from which refusal he appealed to the said see. The said petition adding that he doubts whether the said presentation holds good, and the pope having learned that the said vicarage is still void as above, he hereby orders the above archdeacon, if he find the said David to be fit, to collate and assign to him the said vicarage, value 9l. sterling. Appropriation in perpetuity, at the recent petition of Thomas, abbot of St. Peter's, Shrewsbury (Salopie), O.S.B., in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, who is a completed (formatus) bachelor of theology, (containing that on account of wars and mortalities etc., the fruits etc. of the abbatial mensa are so much diminished that he and the abbot for the time being cannot keep up his state, bear his burdens and repair the buildings, which are threatened with ruin), to the said mensa of the parish church of Egymouron in the said diocese, in the collation of the abbot, value not exceeding 24l. sterling, that of the said monastery not exceeding 200l. sterling; a fit portion being reserved for a perpetual vicar to be instituted by the ordinary. Statute, at the recent petition of Richard, abbot of Croyland, O.S.B., in the diocese of Lincoln (containing that there is a lack of priests for divine worship in the said monastery, and that at times there are monks professed therein, not yet of lawful age), that in future the said abbot and the abbots for the time being may dispense such monks in their twenty-second year and in minor and subdeacon's and deacon's orders, to be promoted to the priesthood by any bishop of the abbot's choice in communion with the apostolic see. To John de Camera, priest, of the diocese of Brechin. Reservation, as below. His recent petition contained that a suit or controversy had arisen or was expected to arise between James, king of Scots and William, bishop of Moray, about the right of patronage of a canonry and the prebend of Kingusy in the church of Moray, and the right of collating the same, and that the said John (to whom, on their voidance by the death of Henry de Kingorn extra R.c., they were collated by the said bishop), has consented, for the sake of peace and the fulfilment of an agreement made with the good pleasure of the apostolic see, that Andrew Lesly, canon of the said church, who is in possession of the said canonry and prebend by force of a presentation or nomination made by the said king, should remain in peaceful possession. The pope, therefore, hereby reserves to the said John a yearly pension of 20l. of the money of Scotland, worth 6l. sterling, from the fruits etc. of the said canonry and prebend, the value of which does not exceed about 60l. Scots, worth 20l. sterling, to be paid half at St. John Baptist's and half at Christmas, by the said Andrew (who has consented by his proctor, James Doles, priest, of St. Andrews) and his successors in the said canonry and prebend, for the lifetime of the said John, or until by means of the said Andrew or of Alexander Lesly de Wrardis, donsel, provision is made to him of a benefice of the net value of 20l. Scots, or of a canonry and the prebend of Kincardin in the same church [of Moray]; with sanctions for non-payment. Vite ac morum. |

Statute, etc., as below. The recent petition of the master or warden and all the scholars of the house or college of Corpus Christi and Blessed Mary of Cambridge, called ‘Seynt Benettis College,’ in the diocese of Ely, contained that by reason of certain provincial and synodal constitutions published in England they cannot let or rent or grant to farm or yearly pension the fruits etc. of the parish church of Grancete in the said diocese (lately canonically applied to their said house or college, and appointed for their sustentation), without [licence] of the ordinary of the place (fn. 3) in whose diocese such fruits etc. are situate. The pope, therefore, hereby makes statute and ordinance and grants to the said master and scholars, present and for the time being, that they may let, etc., the said fruits, etc. to any persons, even laymen without requiring licence of the ordinary or any other; notwithstanding the constitutions of Otto and Ottobon, sometime legates in England, etc. Ad perp. rei mem.
