Mandate (the pope having been informed by Charles Oconchubair, an Augustinian canon of St. Mary's, Cyllmoyr Nasinna, in the diocese of Elphin, that Magonius Macceochayd Yceallayd, prior of St. Mary's, Rosscomayn, of the said order and diocese, has dilapidated many of its goods, committed simony, and omitted to say the divine office) if Charles, who is the son of unmarried parents, will accuse Magonius before the above dean etc. as usual, to summon Magonius, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive Magonius, and in that event to collate and assign the said priory, conventual and with cure, dependent on no monastery or other regular place, value not exceeding 60 marks sterling, to Charles, who is hereby dispensed on account of the said defect etc.; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death of William Ylannagayn in the Roman court, or by Dermit Maceadgan, sometime prior, obtaining the priory of the house of St. John Baptist, Rinduyn, of the order of Crouched Friars (ordinis Cruciferorum), in the said diocese, or in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by John Kers, rector of the chapel of Corstorsin [sic] in the diocese of St. Andrews, that John Wyddirspon,' perpetual vicar of Tranent in the said diocese, caused him, when carrying certain papal letters in order that they might be executed, to be assaulted by certain laymen and imprisoned, and, when under sentence of excommunication, has celebrated masses and other divine offices in contempt of the Keys), if Kers will accuse Wyddirspon' before them etc. as usual, to summon him, and, if they find the above to be true, to deprive him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, which is wont to be governed by Augustinian canons of Holyrood, Edynborch, of whom Kers is one, and whose value does not exceed 20l. sterling, to Kers; notwithstanding that he holds the said chapel, likewise wont to be governed by the said canons, value not exceeding 8l. sterling, which, upon obtaining the said vicarage, he is to resign. Mandate to confirm, after enquiry, the appropriation made by James, bishop of St. Andrews, by consent of the chapter, with reservation of a yearly pension for a perpetual vicar of 14 marks of the money of Scotland and an honest mansio, of the parish church of Hailes (de Halis) in the diocese of St. Andrews, value, including the said pension, not exceeding 20l. sterling, and, pro potioris cautele suffragio, to appropriate it anew to the preceptor and friars of the Augustinian house of St. Anthony near the town of Leth in the said diocese, value not exceeding 10l. sterling, the building of which, as they allege, is not yet completed, and which is insufficiently endowed for the religious who dwell, and for the works which have to be completed there. To the priors of Kylynworth [sic] and Makstoch, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, and the archdeacon of Coventry. Mandate, at the recent petition of the prioress and convent of Eton, of the order of Fontevraud, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield (containing that whilst a cause was pending before certain judges appointed by papal authority, between them and the abbot and convent of the Benedictine monastery of Lire in the said diocese, about tithes of mills, hay, woods, stone-quarries (fn. 2) within the parishes of Eton and Hingley in the said diocese, which churches the said abbot and convent were holding to their uses, and also about the lesser tithes therein, an amicable concord was made between them, whereby the abbot and convent renounced for ever any suit in the matter, and the prioress and convent were to pay 3s. 4d. of those parts every year for ever to the said church of Hingley) to confirm, after enquiry, the said concord. To the abbots of Pypwell and Croxton and Newbo, in the diocese of Lincoln. Mandate, at the recent petition of the prior and convent of the Augustinian monastery of St. John Baptist, Launde (de Landa), in the diocese of Lincoln (containing that its fruits etc., formerly amounting to 1,000 marks sterling, have been so reduced, by reason of the bad management (fn. 10) of its holders and of sinister events in those parts, that they are not worth more than 400 marks a year; that the priory is burdened with the payment of a yearly pension of 91 marks and with a debt of 500 marks; that its houses and granges in many places are threatened with ruin, and that very great hospitality is observed therein daily), to appropriate to the said priory, after enquiry, the parish church of Owdeby in the said diocese, of their patronage, value not exceeding 30 marks sterling, so that the priory and convent, who allege that king Henry the Sixth has given his consent, may take possession if or as soon as void, and convert the fruits etc. to their uses, a fit portion being reserved for a perpetual vicar. The pope recently ordered provision to be made of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Monasteranenagh (de Magio) in the diocese of Limerick, void by the death of abbot Nicholas at the apostolic see, and thereby reserved, to Philip de Geraldinis, then a canon or brother of the Augustinian house of St. Mary and St. Edward, Limerick. At the recent petition of the said Philip (containing that the said provision was made in virtue of the said mandate, and that Nicholas Trostan alias Lewes, a monk of the said monastery [of Monasteranenagh], under pretext of his election by the convent, and confirmation by the ordinary, has taken possession of the administration) the pope orders the above to summon Nicholas and others concerned, and if they find the said provision lawful, to induct Philip into possession of the said administration, removing the said Nicholas and any other, etc. Ad ea ex apostolice. Collation and provision, at his recent petition (containing that on the voidance of the preceptorship of the above house, which is a preceptorship-general, by the death of John Stele, and its consequent reservation to the pope, under his previous reservation of all preceptorships-general of all orders, except the military orders, Humbert, abbot of the monastery of St. Anthony in the diocese of Vienne, to whose abbot belongs by ancient custom the collation and provision when there are no papal reservations, perhaps in ignorance of the said reservation, made collation and provision of the said preceptorship, which is not elective, to the said Michael, who, likewise ignorant, obtained possession in virtue thereof), the said collation and provision being without force, of the said preceptorship, still void as above, dependent on the said monastery and wont to be governed by canons thereof, of whom he is one, value not exceeding 8l. sterling.
