Mandate—the pope having been informed by Denis Ohanrahayn, perpetual vicar of Clooney (de Clonpurgis) in the diocese of Kilfenora, that Maurice Macclannchada, perpetual vicar of Kylleellach in the said diocese, has committed simony and is a public concubinary—if Denis, who is a priest, and was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, will accuse Maurice before them, to summon Maurice, and if they find the above to be true, to deprive Maurice of his said vicarage, and in that event to collate and assign it, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, to Denis; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the death or resignation of John Ychayl, or in any other way; and notwithstanding that Denis holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding I mark, which he is to resign, and that the pope lately ordered provision to be made to him of a benefice with or without cure in the gift of the bishop and the dean and chapter etc. of Kilfenora, and dispensed him to hold it, etc. Vite etc. (An. and G. de Elten. | An. xxviii. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Eugenius Macmurceartayd, clerk, of the diocese of Ardagh, that Matthew Macaeda, perpetual vicar of St. Mary's, Granard, in the said diocese, being ignorant not only of letters and the divine offices but also of the language of the place, is unable to exercise the cure of souls and to be useful to the parishioners in confessions and (after the custom of other rectors of those parts) in preachings and refreshments of spiritual doctrine, neglects the wonted hospitality in the said church, and sometimes absents himself therefrom and betakes himself to and dwells in other parts, and is greatly suspected of simony and other crimes [not here mentioned]—if Eugenius, who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc., as above, f. 105d., will accuse Matthew before him, to summon Matthew, and if he find the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive Matthew, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 40 marks sterling, to Eugenius; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the non-promotion to the priesthood of William Yfrargayl (sic), or in any other way. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Cornelius Orothlayn, canon of Killala, that Nicholas Omacnayd, perpetual vicar of Caslean Conchubayt (sic) alias de Castro Carnelii in the diocese of Killala, has committed simony and perjury and many other crimes [not here mentioned]—seeing that Cornelius, fearing Nicholas's power, cannot safely meet him in the city or diocese of Killala, if Cornelius will accuse Nicholas before them, to summon Nicholas, and if they find the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive Nicholas, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, to Cornelius; whether it become void by the said deprivation, or be void by the death of Gelasius Ymallagayn, or by the resignation of Thomas Yflandayle, or be void in any other way; and notwithstanding that Cornelius was lately received by authority of the ordinary as a canon of Killala. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Huathne Omailmuaid, clerk, of the diocese of Meath, that Donald Omailmuaid, rector of the parish church of St. Colman, Layndeala, in the said diocese, has committed simony with Odo Oheygeyn, clerk, of the same diocese, is a wilful murderer (voluntarius homicida existit), often neglects to read the canonical hours, celebrate divine offices and administer the sacraments and, living like a layman (ut laicus incedens) and wandering hither and thither, has taken part in secular and enormous acts, and has perpetuated other crimes [not here mentioned]—if Huathne (who is in his twenty-third year, is born of a lawful marriage, and by both parents of noble race, and, fearing Donald's power, cannot safely meet him within the city [sic] or diocese of Meath) will accuse Donald before him, to summon Donald, and if he find the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive Donald, and in that event to collate and assign to Huathne, if the lay patrons consent, the said rectory and its annexed chapels, value not exceeding 30 marks sterling. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Donald Offearchian, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Tamlachtalyag in the diocese of Armagh, that Henry Offearchian, priest, of the said diocese, simoniacally paid money to David Macdaymyn in order to induce him to resign the rectory of the said church, which he did to archbishop John, upon which Henry obtained it under pretext of a collation which he got made to him by the said archbishop, by his ordinary authority, and has unduly detained possession for about four years—seeing that, if the facts be as stated, the said collation is null, and seeing that the said archbishop has since, with the consent of the dean and chapter, ordained that the said rectory shall in future be held to be a prebend, if Donald (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc., as above, f. 105d, some people asserting that his illegitimacy arises from his being the son of a married man and an unmarried woman) will accuse Henry before them, to summon Henry, and if they find the above to be true, to declare the said collation null, and to remove Henry, and in that event to collate and assign to Donald a canonry of Armagh and the said rectory or prebend, value not exceeding 14 marks sterling; whether it be void by the resignation of the said David, or by the death of Eugenius Olarchan, or in any other way; and notwithstanding that Donald holds the perpetual vicarage of the same church, value not exceeding 5 marks, which he is to resign upon obtaining the said rectory or prebend. Mandate to collate and assign to Gofredus Olucharean, clerk, of the diocese of Armagh (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary, as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to minor orders, after which he was tonsured), besides a canonry of Armagh, the rectory or prebend of Donachmor in the said diocese (which archbishop John, with consent of the dean and chapter has meanwhile ordained to be henceforth a sacerdotal prebend of Armagh), value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, void because Nyalanus Olucharean, its rector, held it for more than a year without being ordained priest and without dispensation, although he has continued to hold it for more than four years after the lapse of the said year; whether it be void as above, or by the death of William Olucharean, or by the resignation of the said Nyalanus, or in any other way.
