Whitehall.
On the petition of Sir Nicholas Armorer and Sir Gabriel Sylvius for compensation for their letters patent for prosecuting and compounding the penalty of wool bonds entered into in Ireland and the Lord Lieutenant's report thereon dated 2 Oct., giving his opinion that it will not be for his Majesty's service to have the said letters patent continued or the benefit thereof enjoyed by the petitioners and that, if his Majesty thinks fit to have the letters patent surrendered, he submits to his Majesty's consideration what compensation shall be given them and how it shall be secured: reference to the Committee for Irish Affairs, who are to certify what compensation they think reasonable and in what manner, his Majesty reflecting on the services of the petitioners and that he made that grant in consideration thereof. Reference to the Lord High Treasurer of the petition of Mary Fisher and Bennet Fisher, daughters of Thomas Fisher, deceased, for a grant either of the sums lost by their father or some pension answerable thereto in lieu thereof or what else his Majesty shall think fit, whereby they may live in some measure as they have been bred, having nothing left for their relief. Reference to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland of the petition of Lieut.-Col. Charles Molloy and Capt. Terence Molloy, showing that their petition had been referred to the Lord High Treasurer, who reported that it was not advisable to grant their request, and praying that, having had the King's letters in 1674 for remitting their new quit-rents, these letters should be made good. [Ibid. p. 26.]
Oct. 18. Certificate by Edward Woodroofe, surveyor, to the Commissioners of the Streets and Highways at Scotland Yard, that he has viewed and measured the paving work (detailed above) amounting to 52l. 6s. 8d., being for work at the upper end of the Haymarket from the end of Portugal Street to Piccadilly Corner in making good the paving and to convey the water that falls from the north side of Portugal Street and out of Shugg Lane and out of Windmill Street towards the drain in Oxenden Street.
