28. Bishop Bentham to the Council. Sends up a more perfect certificate of the recusants within his diocese. Incloses,
28. I. Certificate of recusants within the diocese of Coventry and Litchfield, which come not to the church to hear divine service, with a valuation of their livings.

29. Bailiffs of Yarmouth (Norf.) to Sir Fr. Walsyngham. Have apprehended the pirate named Tho. Hitchcok; and Scarborough the other pirate has been taken by Lord Clynton, in Lincolnshire.

58. Dr. Lewes to Sir Fr. Walsyngham. Has examined Gilbert Peppit, servant of the Lord Admiral, relative to pirates, according to the order prescribed. Is of opinion that Peppit was free from all suspicion of being an aider of pirates. Incloses,

59. Commissioners for Piracy in the County of Norfolk to the Council. Have prosecuted with diligence their inquiries about pirates. Interpose in favour of Eustace Rolf, who had offended by compulsion. The prices of corn rather abate. Inclosing,
59. i. Certificate of the true and just value of the lands and goods of certain persons detected in dealing with pirates.

60. Commissioners for Piracy in Hampshire to same. Excuse the delay, and certify their proceedings in the matters of piracy.
Feb. 27. 61. Dr. Burchard Raurych (Dr. Burcott) to Walsyngham. Justifies the proof of the ore already made. Is indignant at the charge of incompetency raised against him by Jonas. Proposes to try on 2 cwt. more of the ore, and that two honest men should be appointed to see that it was roasted fairly.
Feb. 62. Details of the proceedings of Jonas Shutz and Dr. Burchard in the trial of the gold ore brought by Mr. Furbisher. Jonas accuses Burchard of evil manners and ignorance, and would have no dealings with him.
