Venit nuper ad nostram inclitam urbem Reverendissimum Dominum Thomas Langton Sarisburiensis, Majestatis Vestre orator ad summum pontificem missus, nobisque reddidit litteras Majestatis Vestre, Quibus cum intellexerimus magnopere eum nobis commendare ut libere ei per dominium nostrum transire statim jussimus preberi sibi quecunque a nobis postulabat Majestas Vestra ut a nobis nullum officium desiderari permiserimus quod ad conservandum mutuam benevolentiam nostram pertinere arbitraremur, aut quod ad commoditatem itineris peragendi utile aut opportunum Domini Thome futurum putaverimus, sicut uberius ab eo cognoscet Majestas Vestra, cui nos nostrasque res plurimum comendamus.

This very evening news has reached the ambassador of the King of England that the people have cut in pieces that king. (fn. 1) Rome, the last of September, 1485.
