376. Cardinal Ascanio Sforza, Milanese Ambassador at Rome, to Gian Galeazzo Maria Sforza, Duke of Milan. Every year on this day his Holiness blesses a golden rose and sends it to some Christian prince selected by him. To-day he has blessed one and given it to the King of Scotland. I think it right to inform your lordship of this. Rome, the 5th March, 1486. [Italian.] |

Sept. 29. Potenze Estere. Inghilterra. Milan Archives. |
377. Letter of John Schibi and John Raynald to the Duke of Milan, asking for payment of the 70,000 florins of the dowry of Lucia Visconti, (fn. 1) as the heirs of Richard Heron. Dated at Antwerp, the 29th September, 1486. [Latin.] |
Nov. 13. Potenze Estere. Inghilterra. Milan Archives. |
378. Letter of the Duke of Milan to John Schibi and John Renaldi alleged executors of the will of Richard Heron. Acknowledges letters from Antwerp of the 29th September. Has never heard of Richard Heron or the debt. Marvels at such an ancient matter being revived. However, will always be ready to show justice after due examination by the lawyers. Viglevano, the 13th November, 1486. [Latin; draft.] |
