I went down purposely to view it and examined several witnesses produced by him and [by] the Corporation, but not finding any encroachments on that side where the petitioner pretended to be aggrieved and not being inclinable to represent that house to her Majesty as a public nuisance which is rather an ornament to the town and entrance into the Castle Mr. Woodson never took out the report. However finding that the Corporation had licensed a small encroachment on the opposite side of this house to make it the more uniform and convenient and had done the like in some other cases I admonished them of it and represented to them that such practises might endanger their charter and therefore advised them to make an order of Court to be entered in their books that no licences of that kind should ever be granted for the future : which on this occasion I shall insist upon."
