d. Prefixing: report by said Wilcox on the petition of said Emmat. I am informed that he had for many years the allowance of 20l. per an. out of the Privy Purse for that service and that he did perform said duty for said time, but I cannot discover from the Duchess of Marlborough's agent or any other person that the petitioner did receive the said allowance or any part thereof for the said time but that the whole, being 30l., is still due to him. Warrants not Relating to Money XX, pp. 469–70.
Same by same to same to make repairs as follows in Windsor Great Park, to an estimate not exceeding 2,783l.
Prefixing: report by said Wilcox. In obedience to your Lordship's commands I have surveyed the lodges in said park and the repairs necessary thereto as also to the outward fence, bridges, heads of the several ponds and deer pens. The lodge which is called the Mannor Lodge and that lodge by the Well in the Great Avenue are much too big and I find them much decayed and will require more to repair them than is necessary to be laid out on lodges fit for keepers. It will be more for her Majesty's advantage to keep up only some part of the best of the building of each of them, to put that in good repair, to brick up the panels instead of plaistering on the outsides which is always breaking down and erect some additional buildings of brick work to make them convenient and warm and pull down all the rest. The charge thereof and for repairing the other four lodges and the barns for hay for the deer and others for the Duchess of Marlborough's use will be 850l. The outward fence of the park is 4,143 rodd which is 13 miles wanting 17 rodd: the cost of new posts, rails and gates and ironwork for same will be 1,560l. The repairs of the several deer pens will be 96l. The repairing the paling on each side and one end of the Great Avenue from Windsor to the Great Park “which the Duchess of Marlborough desires may be done” being 686 rodd, will be 210l. The repairs of several bridges and making some new wastes and grates to the heads of the ponds &c. will cost 67l.: total 2,783l. Warrants not Relating to Money XX, pp. 470–1.

William Lowndes to Thomas Lake. The Lord Treasurer finds that the payment of the Queen's part of the money recovered from the Crown of Portugal for damage done in 1650 and 1651 is from time to time delayed and that this delay is occasioned in some measure by your not pursuing his Lordship's directions in requiring the Trustees to make present payment. He apprehends that while the Queen's money is kept out of the Exchequer the said Trustees do make some profit of it. He therefore requires you to take such measures in this affair as may be effectual for the present payment of the said money to avoid all further trouble and to the end that the Trustees who have the money in their hands may have a proper discharge. Out Letters (General) XIX, p. 121.
