March 1678



March 1.	Treasurer Danby directs that letters be written to all officers that all accounts relating to the preparations for the war, etc. (in the margin : French war) shall be presently distinguished and kept apart in the respective offices : and Mr. Shales to make it his business. [Ibid, p. 28.]
March 2.	The King having been pleased to direct 100l. to be paid to Mris. Margery Thomas, relict and administratrix of Henry Thomas, deceased, as royal bounty, I do agree in consideration thereof to relinquish my whole pretension to all arrears of the pension of 40l. per an. which was granted to my said husband in his life time. (The mark of) Margery Thomas. Witnesses Joane Woodward, W. Lownds. [Ibid, p. 32.]
1678. April 3.	Treasurer Danby directs that the money lately borrowed by him and advanced to Mr. Kingdon, etc., shall be immediately made [or registered as] loans upon the Poll Act. Friday morning is appointed for considering the schemes of payments [estimates of establishment expense in the various offices or departments] for the year to come and for settling funds for them. Treasurer Danby to have an account of Sir William Warren's business relating to the Duke of Monmouth. Treasurer Danby to have a state of Wadlow's business. A calculation to be made of the two pences allotted to the Receiver of the Poll Act in London and Middlesex, how much those two pences will amount to. Mr. Birstall's accounts touching the sick and wounded are to be taken by the Commissioners of the Navy. [Treasury Minute Book VI. p. 32.]
March 29.	Treasurer Danby directs that Ambassador Montagu be repaid the 11,100l livres French which he paid to the reformed [cashiered English] officers in France ; and that Mr. Kingdon take care to pay this money. [Ibid, p. 28.]
