PRAYERS.

Middlesex, &c. Assessments.

ORDERED, That the Books of the weekly Assessments for the County of Middlesex, Westminster, and the Liberty thereof, be carried unto the Committee at Haberdashers Hall this Night; to the End that, upon the Perusal of the Books, they take Care to send such Strength, either by Marshal, or such other Way as they shall think fit, to levy the said Arrears upon such as refuse to pay them.

Committee for Accounts.

Ordered, That the Committee for Accounts be revived, and that they meet when and where they please.

House to rise at 12.

Ordered, That the House rise every Day at Twelve of Clock: and that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof; and that no private Petition be moved, or private Motion made, on any Day, after Nine of Clock; and that no new Motion be made, or new Business begin, after Twelve of Clock.

Gilston Rectory.

An Ordinance for Sequestring the Rents and Profits of the Rectory of Gilston in the County of Hants, whereof Christopher Webb is Rector, into the Hands of certain Sequestrators named in the said Ordinance, to the Use of Tho. Mockett Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine; who is thereby appointed and required to preach every Lord's Day, and to officiate as Rector, and to take care for the Discharge of the Cure of the said Place, in all the Duties thereof, until further Order shall be taken by both Houses of Parliament; was this Day read; and, by Vote, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Witham Vicarage.

An Ordinance for Sequestring the Rents and Profits of the Vicarage of Witham in the County of Essex, whereof Francis Wright was Vicar, into the Hands of certain Sequestrators named in the said Ordinance, to the Use of Edm. Brewer Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and Orthodox Divine; who is thereby required to preach every Lord's Day, and to officiate as Vicar, and to take care for the Discharge of the Cure of the said Church, in all the Duties thereof, until further Order shall be taken by both Houses of Parliament; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Starchmakers.

Ordered, That the Examination of the State of the Cause of the Eight hundred Pounds remaining as Arrears in the Hands of some Grocers belonging to the Company of Starchmakers, be referred to the Committee for Accounts, where Mr. Trenchard has the Chair; and that Mr. Wheeler be added to this Committee; and that they consider of some Ways of securing the said Persons from any Danger, upon Payment of the said Monies.

Collection of Assessments.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor and Commissioners for the Assessment of the Monies, upon the Second Payment of the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, do give effectual Orders for the speedy collecting of those Monies; and that they take some Course, that the Assessments may be rated upon the abler Sort, and the meaner spared: And that Mr. Trenchard do acquaint the Commissioners with such Collectors as are in Arrear; and that the Commissioners take care, that those Collectors bring in their Collection, and perfect their Accounts.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker shall have Power to grant Warrants, for the apprehending of such Collectors as have been negligent in the collecting of the Payments upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, and as shall be informed against from the Committee; and, upon the Committee's Information that they have brought in their Collections, that he shall have Power to discharge them.

Ordered, That the several Collectors of London, that were formerly sent for as Delinquents, for not paying in the Arrears of their Collections, and for being negligent in their Collections, upon the Information from the Committee, of their Obedience and Diligence, be forthwith discharged.

Isle of Wight.

Ordered, That the Furnishing of the Isle of Wight with such Ordnance, Muskets, Bullet Match, and Ammunition, as are desired by the Petitions of the Inhabitants of the said Isle, be recommended unto the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom.

Ordered, That upon any Alarum in the Isle of Wight, the Deputy Lieutenants of the several Counties of Southampton, Wiltshire, Dorsett, Surry and Sussex, do send, into the said Isle, such Forces, and so many, as they have done formerly, upon such and the like Occasions.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Gentlemen named in the Ordinance for the Isle of Wight, to consider of the Disbursements made by Mr. Moises Reade, late Mayor of Newporte, for the Service of the said Isle; and to cause Payment to be made unto him.

Conference desired.

Mr. Bainton went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference concerning the Business at Lambeth.

Defence of Devon.

Ordered, That the Plate sent out of the County of Devon shall be assigned for the Payment of the Arms and Ammunition prepared for the Service of the County of Devon, and for the Defence of that County.

Norfolk, &c. Forces.

Ordered, That the Gentlemen of the Five associated Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, &c. do meet together this Afternoon, and prepare an Ordinance for applying the Monies, that shall be raised in those several Counties upon the Ordinance for seizing and sequestring the Estates of notorious Delinquents, to the Maintenance of the Forces raised in those several Counties: And that the Gentlemen of the County of Norfolk do prepare an Order for applying and assigning the Plate now at Norwich, brought in upon the Propositions, to the maintaining of the Forces raised in that County.

Conference desired.

Ordered, That a Conference be desired with the Lords, concerning the passing the Ordinance, long since sent up to their Lordships, for assessing such as have not contributed at all, or not according to their Proportions.

Conference agreed to.

Mr. Bainton brings Answer, that the Lords are ready to give a present Meeting at a Conference, as is desired, in the Painted Chamber.

Mr. White, Sir Rob. Harley, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Assessments.

Mr. Holland is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire them, that, at this Conference, this House may propound unto them some Reasons for passing the Ordinance for assessing such as have not contributed at all, or not proportionable to their Estates.

Mr. Pym, Mr. Strode, Mr. Marton, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Affairs of Lynne.

Ordered, That the Knights and Burgesses, that serve for the County of Norfolk, do meet this Afternoon, to consider of the Business of Lynne, and what Ways are fittest to accommodate the Matters there, and to reduce the Town; and the Examination of all Matters concerning Mr. Parlett Recorder of the said Town of Lynne: And Mr. Kirkeby is referred to this Committee.

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Holland brings Answer, that the Lords do agree, that, at the Conference desired, they may propound Reasons for passing the Ordinance concerning such as have not contributed at all, &c.

Treaty with the King.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Ro. Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords do intend, at this next Conference, to acquaint you with an Answer, that they have prepared, to the King's last Message.

Mr. Pym presents, from the Conference, the Answer.. his Majesty's Message Yesterday sent, prepared by the Lords to be sent to the Committee at Oxon: The which was read: And

The Question being propounded, whether the Power of the Committee shall be enlarged; that if they shall not have fully agreed upon the Two First Propositions by Friday Night, that they may, notwithstanding Restraint, proceed to treat upon them, according to the Instructions formerly given them;

Resolved, &c. That the Power of the Committee shall be inlarged; that if they shall not have fully agreed upon the Two First Propositions by Friday Night, that they may, notwithstanding any Restraint, proceed to treat upon them, according to the Instructions formerly given them.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee formerly appointed for the Treaty and Cessation, to put this Report, now delivered from the Conference, into Form and Expressions.

Army Affairs.

ORDERED, That the humble Petition of divers Officers of the Lord Brooke; and likewise the Means of the Support and Maintenance of the Garison in the Castle of Warwicke, and the Payment of the Officers; be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom.

Prisoner discharged.

Upon the Report from the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland;

Resolved, upon the Question, that Captain H. Peaseley, now in the Restraint of Captain Gore, and so sent from the Lord Inchiquin, be forthwith discharged from any further Restraint.

Delinquents Estates.

Ordered, That the Committee of Lords and Commons for sequestring and seizing the Estates of notorious Delinquents and Papists, they, or any Five of them, may meet and execute; and that a Conference be desired with the Lords, and their Concurrence desired herein.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Lords and Commons, for the sequestring of the Estates of notorious Delinquents, &c. to consider of the disposing of such Houses of notorious Delinquents, as are about this Town, and in the Possession of the Owners.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Jo. Maynard shall be a Commissioner named in the Ordinance for sequestring and seizing the Estates of notorious Delinquents and Papists; and to have the same Power as any of the rest of the Committees named in the said Ordinance have.

Treaty with the King.

Mr. Pym presented from the Committee, the Instructions to be sent to the Committee, concerning his Majesty's last Answer to the Reasons of both Houses, touching the Articles of the Cessation, brought in upon the Report from the Conference this Day with the Lords: The which was read; and, by Vote, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be delivered unto the Lords, at a Conference.

Mr. Oldisworth went up to the Lords, to desire a free Conference, concerning the Instructions to be sent to the Committee at Oxon, in Answer to his Majesty's Message, Yesterday received: And likewise to desire, that whereas there is a Committee of Lords and Commons appointed to consider of the sequestring and seizing the Estates of notorious Delinquents and Papists, that any Five of that Committee may meet and execute.

Ordered, That one Head of the Conference shall be, That the Lords be desired, that the Letter sent to the Committees of both Houses, may be signed by the Speakers of both Houses, as has heretofore been usually done.

Ordered, That one Head of the Conference shall be, That the Committee at Oxon be injoined to send word to the Houses, by Saturday Noon next, what shall pass in the Treaty, until Friday Night next.

Mr. Pym, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Holles are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Mr. Oldsworth brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the Conference, as it is desired: And as to the other Part of the Conference concerning the Committee, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.
