ORDERED, That Mr. Green make his Report touching the Navy, the first Business, To-morrow Morning; no other Business to intervene.
Debate resumed.
The Question that has been these Three or Four Days debated, was read: And
It is Resolved, &c. That this House shall proceed upon this Question in Parts.
Settling the Kingdom.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, That they are fully resolved to maintain and preserve inviolably the Solemn League and Covenant, and the Treaties betwixt the Kingdoms of England and Scotland:"
The Question was propounded, to add these Words; viz. "and do expect the same from the Kingdom of Scottland:
And the Question being put, Whether this Question be now put;
It passed with the Negative.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, That they shall be ready to join with the Kingdom of Scotland, in the Propositions agreed on by both Kingdoms, presented to the King at Hampton Court.
Ordered, That the House do proced, To-morrow Morning, with the Residue of the Question now in Debate; next after the Business of the Navy; and nothing to intervene.
Sheriff of Essex.
Mr. Sayer brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Sheriff of Essex.
Surprise of Berwick.
Upon Mr. Crew's Report of an Order made by the Committee of Lords and Commons at Derby House;
It is Ordered, That Instructions be sent to the Commissioners of the Parliament, now resident in Scotland, to signify to the Parliament of Scotland, That the Town of Berwick is surprised by some Delinquents, and Enemies to both Kingdoms; who were lately in that Kingdom: And, as we are informed, it is by some of those that were demanded from the Parliament of Scotland.
Securing Northern Counties;
Propositions, presented by the Committee of the Northern Association, were this Day read, for securing the Northern Parts.
The Question was propounded, That the Seven Northern Counties be forthwith put into a Posture of Defence:
And the Question being put, That the Words "have Leave to" be added to the Question;
The House was divided.

Ordered, That the rest of the Paper of the Propositions, presented from the Committee of the Northern Association, be referred to the Committee at Derby House; to advise with the Committee of the Northern Association; and to consider thereof; and report their Opinions to the House, between the Hours of Nine and Twelve, with all convenient Speed.
