Prayers.

Compton's Estate.

A BILL to enable Sir Francis Compton, and others, to make Sale of the Manor of Hamerton in the County of Huntingdon, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to Sir John Trever, Mr. Cheney, Sir Lanc. Lake, Mr. Clerke, Sir John Covert, Mr. Westfating, Sir Nicholas Pedley, Mr. Crouch, Mr. Spencer, Mr. Spry, Sir John Talbott, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Geo. Mountague, Sir John Brampston, Sir Thomas Doleman, Sir Geo. Downing, Sir Walter St. Johnes, Sir Courtney Poole, Sir John Holland, Sir Franc. Drake, Sir John Birkenhead, Mr. Tho. Morris, Mr. Herbert, Sir Wm. Doyley, Sir Hen. Ford, Sir Wm. Tirringham, Sir John Newton, Mr. Otway, Mr. Tulse, Sir John Nicholas, Mr. Apreice, Mr. Hopkins, Mr. Hampden, Col. Inferior Courts.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Matter was referred to bring in a Bill or Bills for regulating Abuses in inferior Courts, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon: And that it be referred to the Committee, or any Three of them, to bring in such Bill or Bills: And Mr. Buscowen, Sir Charles Harbord, and Sir Lanc. Lake, be added to the said Committee.

Recovery of Tythes.

The Bill for Repair of Churches, and Recovery of small Tythes, was read the Second time.

A Proviso was tendered to be added to the Bill; and twice read.

Restraining Buildings.

A Bill for Restraint of Building, Inmates, and Inclosures near to the Cities of London and Westminster, was read the First time.

And a Debate arising thereupon;

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be withdrawn: And that a Committee be appointed to prepare and bring in a new Bill, upon the Debates of the House, to restrain the further Increase of Buildings near the Cities of London and Westminster; and to remedy the Inconveniences occasioned thereby: And that it be referred to the same Committee, to inspect the Statutes relating to the Relief of the Poor; and of the Statute of 5° Eliz. and all other Laws which relate thereto; and to bring in a Bill to redress such Inconveniences as they find in these Matters; viz. Mr. Sacheverell, Captain Jones, Sir Phill. Warwick, Sir Cha. Wheeler, Sir Richard Temple, Sir Char. Harbord, Mr. Garraway, Sir Geo. Downing, Mr. Child. Mr. Swayer, Mr. Mallett, Sir Anth. Irby, Col. Titus, Sir John Erneley, Sir Thomas Allen, Sir John Pettus, Mr. Hopkins, Mr. Buscowen, Mr. Cheney, Sir John Birkenhead, Sir Thom. Clergis, Colonel Strangwayes, Mr. Crouch, Sir John Frederick, Sir Wm. King appoints to be attended.

Mr. Secretary Coventry acquaints the House, That His Majesty had appointed the House to attend with the Address to His Majesty, To-morrow, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall.

Suppressing Popery.

Resolved, &c. That the House will resolve into a Committee of the whole House To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock, to proceed in the further Consideration of effectual Ways for suppressing the Growth of Popery.

Privilege-Detention of a Member.

Sir Thomas Meres reports from the Committee of Privileges and Elections, the State of the Matter relating to Sir Jo. Prettiman's being detained Prisoner in the King's Bench Prison, and thereby hindered for attending the Service of the House; and Two Votes, agreed by the Committee: Which he read in his Place: and delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Which are as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Prettyman be delivered out of the Custody of the Marshal of the King's Bench, to attend the Service of this House.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Prettiman be delivered from such Custody, by sending the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House, with the Mace, to bring him to the Service of this House.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee;

The House divided.

The Noes go forth.

And so it was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Prettiman be delivered out of the Custody of the Marshal of the King's Bench, to attend the Service of this House.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Prettiman be delivered from such Custody, by sending the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House, with the Mace, to bring him to the Service of this House.

Privilege.

A Complaint being made, on the Behalf of Sir John Trever, a Member of this House, That several Declarations in Ejectment have been delivered to his Tenants of the Manors of Stocklash and Horton in the County Palatine of Chester, during his Attendance on the Service of this House, since the Time of Privilege;

Ordered, That all Proceedings at Law thereupon be stayed.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do send his Letter, to stop the said Proceedings, accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That the Matter of the said Complaint be referred to the Committee of Privileges; to examine the same; and to report it, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
