Milverton (Som.): given to bp. Giso by queen Edith, perhaps latter half of 1065 (Keynes, 'Giso' app. I no. 10, and see pp. 238-9). Bp. Giso's TRE, royal manor in 1086 (DB I 87a); church held by Stephen the chapl., kg.'s clerk (ibid. 91c).

Advowson of church of Milverton gr. to bp. Jocelin by William Briwer [May 1226] (Cal. I 489); conf. by abp. May 1226 (Acta S. Langton no. 86). Preb. attached to archdcnry. of Taunton by bp. Jocelin 3 Apr. 1241 (Cal. I 469). Papal conf. 5 Feb. 1245 (CPL I 213 = Reg. Innoc. IV no. 996).
