Though he had conf. el. of Bek, Edw. II was canvassing Burghersh as bp. in the Curia (Foedera, Record ed. II i 414-15, 418). Burghersh prov. 27 May 1320 (CPL. II 198). Cons. 20 July (R.S.A.). Temps. 5 Aug. (CPR. 1317-1321 p. 494). Schalby says that Burghersh was persecuted by king Edw. (Schalby p. 215) who kept the temps. in his hands for three years (see CCR. 1327-1330 p. 33).
