The under-mentioned manor, moiety and lands etc. came to the hand of Edward III by the death of John Wendout, tenant in chief, and by reason of the minority of Robert his son and heir who lately died while a minor in the king’s wardship, and they are still in the king’s hand. The said John Wendout died on Friday before St James, 41 Edward III.

Yerdhill. 6 cottages, a water-mill, 3 husbandlands and 9a. land and meadow, worth nothing because totally devastated by frequent warlike incursions of the Scots in those parts.

The kinsmen and next heirs of the aforesaid Robert Wendout were Robert de Hibburn, son of Isabel, one of the sisters of the said John Wendout, aged 40 years; John Graham, son of Mary another sister of John Wendout, aged 50 years; Margery wife of Richard Wetewang, aged 48 years, and Elizabeth her sister, aged 36 years, daughters of Agnes third sister of John Wendout; Margaret late the wife of Thomas Sampson, aged 54 years, and Agnes her sister, aged 52 years, daughters of Christina fourth sister of John Wendout; Alice daughter of John Syward son of Alice Syward fifth sister of John Wendout, then aged 10 years; and Margery daughter of Robert de Lilburn son of Elizabeth sixth sister of John Wendout, then aged 12 years. Of these, John Graham assumed the habit of a religious order and was professed therein at the abbey of Roches on 4 May, 6 Richard II, Alan Graham, aged 40 years, being his brother and heir; Elizabeth sister of Margery wife of Richard Wetewang, died on 2 January, 7 Richard II, the said Margery being her next heirs; Alice daughter of John Syward lately died while a minor in the king’s wardship on 4 March, 8 Richard II, Christina wife of Richard de Lincoln, aged 30 years, and Joan Pacok, sister of the said Christina aged 24 years, being her next heir; and Margery daughter of Robert de Lilburn lately died while a minor in the king’s wardship on 6 May, 10 Richard II. Two-thirds of the above-mentioned manor, moiety and lands etc. as well as the reversion of a third part thereof, held for life in dower by Christina late the wife of the said John Wendout ought to descend to the said Robert de Hibburn, Alan Graham, Margery wife of Richard de Wetewang, Margaret late the wife of Thomas Sampson and Agnes her sister, Christina wife of Richard de Lincoln and Joan Pacok, her sister, as kinsfolk and heirs of the said Margery daughter of Robert de Lilburn, and also kinsfolk and heirs of the said Robert Wendout. They are all of full age. The said two-thirds of the said manor, moiety and lands came to the hands of Edward III by the death of John Wendout and by reason of the minority of Robert Wendout, and are now in the present king’s hand by reason of the minority of the said Margery daughter of Robert de Lilburn.

He held the under-mentioned manor of Wodhull in his demesne as of fee in joint feoffment with William his son, who is still living, by gift and grant of Peter Besilles made by a fine levied in the king’s court and with the king’s licence to him and his said son and his heirs.
He held the under-mentioned land in Westokkenham in joint feoffment with Thomas Smert, chaplain, who is still living, by gift of John Elcoumbe [to him and the said Thomas] and his heirs.
He held the remaining under-mentioned manors and lands in joint feoffment with Isabel his wife, who is still living, [to hold to them] and his heirs.
Wodhull. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of 4 barbed arrows to be paid yearly at the Exchequer at Easter.

Westkynete. A carucate of land, held of the manor of Castelcoumbe, service not known.
Medebourne Doynel and Medebourne Stokke. The manor, in Ludynton, held of the abbess of Shaftesbury, services not known.
Chuselden, Hodeston and Draycote. 10 virgates of land, held of the abbot of Hyde, service not known.
Walcote. A virgate of land, held of Nicholas atte Forde, service not known.
Wambergh. A carucate of land, held of the prior of Lewes, services not known.
He died on Friday in the first week of Lent last. Heir as above, aged 30 years and more.
