Tremur. A messuage and lands held in socage of Stephen de Podeford by fealty.
Trelulla. 8a. Cornish, held of the king in chief as of the honour of the castle of Launceveton, which is in the hand of John de Eltham, earl of Cornwall, in socage by fealty only.
Westdraynes. A messuage and 1/2a. Cornish held of Thomas de Lamerton (?) in socage by fealty.
Trenant. A mill held of the said Thomas by fealty in socage.

Wyldene. A messuage, land and rent, held of the king in chief, by service of a twentieth part of a knight’s fee; 18a. land and 3a. meadow, held in reversion after the death of John de le Hay of Welden, to whom the said John le Wythe demised them for the life of the said John de le Hay, after that the king had granted all the said tenements to the said John le Wythe by charter, reserving 10s. yearly rent to the said John le Wythe; which tenements are held of the king by service as above; and 18a. land held jointly with Isabel his wife and William his son, who still survive, for their lives, of Joan late the wife of John de Pabeham, by service of 16s. yearly and 4 capons at Easter.

Writ of certiorari super causa captionis concerning 10s. rent in Wilden which were of John le Blound, 10 October, 5 Edward III.
Return by the escheator (undated).
He has returned into the chancery the inquisition taken by him concerning the lands &c. which were of the same John, in which it is contained that the said John, who in this writ is called John le Blound, held certain tenements of the king in chief in Wilden by knight’s service, and, long before his death, without the king’s licence, alienated 18a. land and 3a. meadow thereof to John del Hay for his life, who still survives, rendering 10s. yearly to the same John le Blound and his heirs, of which mention is made in the writ, on account of which alienation that rent is still in the king’s hand.

Ekington. A capital messuage and 40a. land were (sometime?) held by the said John to himself and his heirs, of which he enfeoffed Thomas Mareschal, who re-enfeoffed the said John for his life, with reversion to the said Thomas, who still survives, and his heirs; they are held of the heir of John de Stoteville, a minor and in the king’s wardship, as of the manor of Ekyngton, by homage and service of 4s. yearly.
He held no lands, &c., as of fee, on the day he died.

A messuage, lands, and rent; whereof a moiety of the said messuage, 4 virgates of land, 8a. meadow and 5s. rent, are held of Richard de Willamescote, as of his manor of Willamescote, by service of half a knight’s fee, and the other moiety of the said messuage, 4 virgates of land, 8a. meadow and 4s. rent, are held of Sir Matthew son of Herbert, as of his manor of Southam, by service of half a knight’s fee. He held no other lands.

He died on Wednesday after the Assumption last.
He was not seised of any lands, &c. in the county except in reversion after the death of Cecily his wife, who survives, for before he married her, viz.—on Saturday the feast of St. Gregory, 28 Edward I, he granted all his lands in Kent to her, for her life, with reversion to himself, and his heirs, viz.—
Toutesham in West Farleghe. A messuage, lands and rent, held of the honour of Creuker, which is in the king’s hand, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and which are charged to the prior of Christ Church, Canterbury, in 20s. yearly rent; and the said Cecily was also seised of 9a. land in the said town, which are held of the heir of Gilbert de Toutesham, in gavelkind, by service of 9s. yearly; and also of 10a. wood in Eldyngg, which are held of Gilbert de Henherst by knight’s service. The reversion of the said lands and tenements, after the death of the said Cecily, belongs to Richard, son and heir of the said John, aged 24 years and more.

A messuage and 18a. land, held of the king in chief by service of conducting the farm of the county of Salop to the king’s exchequer twice yearly, and rendering 2s. yearly at the said exchequer by the hands of the sheriff for the rental of the same serjeanty, and doing suit at the hundred of Monselowe every three weeks.

Writ of certiorari on the petition of John de Clare asserting that he is kinsman and next heir of the said Eleanor and of full age, and seeking his inheritance, 4 September, 5 Edward III.
WARWICK. Inq. taken at Cheping Kyngtone, 2 October, 5 Edward III.
Mollynton. A messuage, a carucate of land, and 2 marks rent, held of Thomas de Bello Campo, now earl of Warwick, by service of homage and a quarter of a knight’s fee; which tenements came into the king’s hands by way of wardship by reason of the lands and tenements which were of Guy de Bello Campo, sometime earl of Warwick, deceased, father of the said Thomas, and for that reason only are they still in the king’s hand.
John de Clare, her kinsman, aged 22 years, is her next heir.

ESSEX. Inq. Tuesday the eve of the Annunciation, 6 Edward III.
Great Badewe. A moiety of a messuage, lands and rent (extent given), which descended to him by inheritance after the death of William his brother, held of the king in chief by petty serjeanty, viz.—keeping one of the king’s palfreys for twenty days at the king’s expense, when the king shall happen to cross into those parts. The said Edmund held no other lands &c. on the day he died, except of joint acquisition with Joan his wife, who still survives.

Estyllebyri. A messuage, lands, rent, a ferry &c. (extent given), held in free marriage with the said Edmund sometime her husband, of the earl of Hereford in chief by service of a knight’s fee.
William, son of Isabel, daughter of the said Edmund and Joan, whom Philip de Welle married, aged 20 years and more, is her next heir.

Great Sampford. The manor held for her life, by fine levied in the court of King Edward I, by his licence, between the said Henry and Cecily, and William de Cyfrewast [or Cyphrewast], to (hold to) the said Henry and Cecily and the heirs of the said Henry, of the king in chief, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and rendering 5s. yearly for the ward of the castle of Wyndesore. She held no other lands in the county.
Edmund de Malins, her son, aged 30 years and more, is her next heir.

Quenhull. A third part of the manor, held of the king in chief, by service of rendering yearly a hound (canem de muta) at the king’s exchequer.
Walton. The manor held of Sir William la Zousche and Eleanor his wife, by homage and service of a knight’s fee and a half, and suit of the court of Teukesbury every three weeks.
Joan his daughter, aged 14 years and more from the day of the Conversion of St. Paul last, is his next heir.
Memorandum by the escheator that he has returned one inquisition with the king’s writ to him directed, and because that inquisition was insufficient in part, he sends this (following) inquisition.
WORCESTER. Inq. 4 June, 5 Edward III.
Quenehull. Two parts of the manor, with 50a. land, 10a. meadow, and 1/2a. pasture, held of the king in chief by service of rendering a hound (canem de muto) yearly at the king’s exchequer; also 27s. 4d. yearly rent, two parts of a windmill, and services and customs of bondmen, &c.

ESSEX. Inq. taken at the park of Stanford Riveres on Thursday before St. Barnabas, 5 Edward III.
Stanford. The park (extent given), held of the king as of the honour of Boulogne, as parcel of the manor of Stanforde Ryveres, which manor is held of the king as of the honour aforesaid by service of a knight’s fee.
Andrew, son of Roger, brother of the said Humphrey, aged 19 years and more, is his next heir.
ESSEX. Inq. Thursday before St. Barnabas, 5 Edward III.
Laufar Magdeleyne. The manor (extent given), held in chief of Sir Hugh de Audele and Margaret his wife, as of her right and inheritance, by service of half a knight’s fee, and rendering 7d. yearly, at the hundred of Aungre, viz.—for ‘wardstaf.’

Ryklynge and Little Perndon. The manors held for life, with reversion to Petronilla late the wife of John de Bensted.
Dounton. The manor held for life, with reversion to Margery late the wife of John de Say, and to Humphrey her son.
Elsenham and Macchyng. The manors held for life, with reversion to Humphrey his son (sic).
He held nothing in fee in the county but the park of Stanford Ryveres and the manor of Laufar Magdalen.

ESSEX. Inq. Friday the eve of St. Bartholomew, 5 Edward III.
Donton. The reversion of 2 messuages, 26a. arable and 4a. meadow, acquired from Walter ate Strete of Donton and Cecily his wife, to hold to the said Humphrey, his heirs and assigns, after the death of the said Walter and Cecily; whereof a messuage and 8a. land are held of the master of the hospital of St. Bartholomew in Smethefeld by service of 2s. 6d. yearly; the other messuage and 2a. land are held of the manor ‘ate Whitehall’ by service of 16d. yearly; and 16a. land and 4a. meadow are held of the prior of Okeburne by service of 3s. 3d. yearly, and suit of court every three weeks at the manor of Donton, and finding a man for two days at the great boondays there, and two men for one day after dinner (post prandium) to lift hay in the meadow of the said prior of Okeburne: the said Walter and Cecily are surviving.

ESSEX. Inq. Thursday after St. Gregory the Pope, 6 Edward III.
Little Stanbrigge. Two parts of a messuage and garden and 30a. arable, held in chief of Robert son of Walter by service of 2 1/2d. when scutage runs; and the heir of the said Robert is in the king’s wardship as a minor, which wardship the king has committed to Henry de Percy until the full age of the heir, reserving to himself marriages, fees, and advowsons of churches when they shall happen.
Estwode. 18a. arable, held of the heir of Philip de Heveningham by service of 1d. yearly.
Rochesford. 36a. land, held of a fee sometime of the Templars by service of 26s. 8d. yearly, and suit of court at the Templars’ manor of Sutton every three weeks; also two parts of a windmill, held by the same service.
Little Stanbrigge. 10a. land, held of a fee sometime of the Templars, by service of 10s. yearly.
Great Stanbrigge and Estwode. 4s. yearly rent, held in fee, service unspecified.

Writ of certiorari, on the petition of Edmund Fitz Simon of Godithestre and Sabina his wife that the king would cause his hand to be removed from the wardship of Joan, daughter and heir of the said William, 25 April, 6 Edward III.
ESSEX. Inq. 14 May, 6 Edward III.
The said William died on the day of St. Laurence, 19 Edward II, in the lifetime of Robert son of Walter, grandfather of the present John son of Walter, which Robert was seised of the wardship of the body and lands of Joan daughter and heir of the said William, which wardship, with the marriage of the said Joan, he granted to William le Parker of Wodeham Walter, who afterwards granted the same to Edmund fiz Simon of Godythestre and Sabina his wife, who held the same until 12 October, 5 Edward III, when the said wardship was taken into the king’s hand by a writ at the prosecution of certain who asserted that the same William de Coumbe had died within the year last past and had held of the king in chief. The said Joan is not married. The said William de Coumbe held at his death 4s. rent in Great Stanbrigge and Estwod, with 36a. land in Rochesford, of the fee of the Templars, by service of 26s. 8d. yearly, and held no lands &c. on the day he died of the king in chief.

All held of the heir of John de Sancto Johanne of Basynges, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of a sixteenth part of a knight’s fee, and doing suit yearly at the hundred of Andevere every three weeks.

NORTHAMPTON. Inq. 17 October, 5 Edward III.
He held no lands &c. in chief of the king in the said county, because long before his death he demised all his lands &c. in the county, excepting 100s. rent in Estheston which are held of the earl of Cornwall, service unknown, to Henry de Coumbemartyn, Adam de Cortenhale, William Turvill, rector of the church of Plumton, and Roger le Heyr.
Robert de Pynkenye granted to Alice his daughter 7s. rent in Morton by Assheby Canons, to hold for her life, who enfeoffed William de Sancto Johanne of the same rent for the same term; and William de Pynkenye, son and heir of the said Robert now holds the said rent as parcel of the manor of Morton, which manor he holds of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Giles his son, aged a year and a half and more, is his next heir.
BEDFORD. Inq. 1 October, 5 Edward III.
Tingrith. Two crofts, a windmill and 5 marks yearly rent from free tenants, held with Andrew de Sancto Lucio and John de Oxon’ as of the right of their wives; which tenements the said William, Andrew and John recovered before the justices in eyre at Bedford, and which have not yet been separated or divided among them; they are held of Roger Dakeneye by service of paying 2 marks for the guard (custodiam) of the castle of Wyndesore by the hands of the said Roger.
