SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Exeford on Thursday after St. Barnabas, 8 Edward III.
Loccombe. Two parts of the manor (extent given), and the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Pynkeneye, for two parts of three knights’ fees.
His sister, Elizabeth the wife of Oliver de Sancto Johanne, aged 13 years and more, is his next heir.

LEICESTER. Inq. 23 April, 9 Edward III.
Keythorp. A third part of two carucates of land and 8s. rent, held in dower of the inheritance of Roger son and heir of Roger Beler, of the archbishop of York by service of a twentieth part of a knight’s fee.
She died on Monday after the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, 6 Edward III.
Petition to the king and council by William de Tilton and Elizabeth his wife. Whereas Roger son of Roger Beler is suing a scire facias against the said William and Elizabeth before the justices of the bench, to show cause why the third part of two carucates of land and 40s. rent in Keythorp, which the said Margery held in dower, and which after her death ought to revert to John son of John de Tilton and his heirs, ought not to remain to Roger de Beler the father, and his heirs for ever, according to an agreement between the said Roger Beler the father, and the said John son of John before the justices of King Edward II, at York, in the 15th year of his reign; upon which it is pleaded that the said Margery did not hold of the said John son of John, but of one Alice David, who still survives; pending which plea it was found, by an inquisition made by persons ignorant of the truth, that the said Margery held the same tenements in dower of the inheritance of the said heir, who was in the king’s wardship, for which cause the said third part was taken into the king’s hand; they pray that pending the said plea the said William and Elizabeth may be re-seised of the said third part &c. (undated.)
Endorsed:—Let them sue out the matter before the justices, and if judgment is in favour of the petitioners, let them sue the lands out of the king’s hand.

Coleby by Hermeston. A capital messuage, lands and rent, held of the king as of the honour of Huntyngdon, as of the pourparty of Robert de Brus which is in the king’s hand by the forfeiture of the said Robert, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee.
Harington. The manor (extent given), held of the heirs of John de Multon of Egremound, by service of a knight’s fee, and rendering 20l. yearly to John son of Richard de Harington from a certain rent charged to Richard de Harington father of the aforesaid John and to Amice wife of the same Richard, and their heirs, whose heir the same John is, by John de Harington father of the same Richard and grandfather of the aforesaid John, late lord of Harington, by fine levied in the court of King Edward II.
Neuton in Kesteven. A capital messuage, 17a. arable, and 3a. wood, held of John de Sourdevale by service of 40d. yearly; and 14a. arable and 8s. yearly rent from a bondman, held of the bishop of Durham by service of 21d. yearly.
Welton by Louth and Withcal. 30s. yearly rent, held of Ralph de Nevile, as in socage, by service of 4s. 6d. yearly.
Boston (Sancto Botolpho). Two houses, held of the earl of Richmond, as in socage, by service of 7s. yearly, and they are worth 20s. yearly in the time of the fair.
Wrangle. 5s. 10d. rent, held of Ebulo Lestraunge by knight’s service.
Forthington. The manor, held of Laurence de Hastinges by service of a knight’s fee, and not of the king, was alienated by the said Alexander three years ago, to Master John de Cubbeldyk in fee tail, to him and the heirs of his body.
Wyberton and Frampton. All his tenements, held of Roger de Huntingfeld, the earl of Richmond, and divers other lords, and not of the king, were alienated by the said Alexander long before his death to Master John de Wygetoft and Richard de Forthington, parson of the church of Wodehalle, in fee simple.
Freston. All his tenements, held of Sir William de Roos by knight’s service, and not of the king, were similarly alienated to the aforesaid Master John de Wygetoft and Richard de Forthington, and to Roger de Stikesford, chaplain, in fee simple.
Hagworthingham, Moreby, Coningesby, Wilkesby, Holtham and Dalderby. All his tenements, held of the bishop of Carlisle, Henry Hillary, John de Hardreshulle, and other lords, by divers services, and not of the king, were similarly alienated to the said Roger de Stikesforde and Richard de Forthington in fee simple.
Roger his son, aged 18 years at the feast of the Annunciation last, is his next heir.

Benstede. The manor (extent given), held jointly with John de Lenham sometime her husband, by fine levied in the king’s court, of the king in chief, as of the castle of Ledes now in the hands of Isabella, queen of England, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and by service of doing suit at the court of the said castle every three weeks; and there are due thence yearly at the manor of Eylesford belonging to Sir John de Grey, 24s. 4d. and 1lb. of pepper.
Huntyngdon. The manor (extent given), held jointly with the aforesaid John sometime her husband, by the aforesaid fine, of the archbishopric of Canterbury, then vacant and in the king’s hand by the death of Simon late archbishop, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and doing suit at the archbishop’s great court at Canterbury once a year; and there are due thence yearly to the prior and convent of Christ Church, Canterbury, as of rent charge, 10l. yearly.

Munchenehampton manor. A messuage, land and rent, and a certain profit worth 3s. 4d. yearly in the common wood of Muchenehampton, as for tenants abiding there, if they stay there, held of the abbess of Caen, as of the said manor, in socage, by service of rendering 19s. 7d. yearly, and three days’ ploughing yearly, and carrying the lady’s corn in the autumn for one day, and doing one ‘bedripe’ with two men for one day.
Hawnepenne. A messuage, lands and rent, held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem as of his manor of Quenynton in socage, by service of rendering 51s. yearly.
Hugh son of Hugh de Rodberg, his kinsman, aged 13 years at the feast of All Saints last, is his next heir.
Petition to the king and Council from the prior of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England.
Whereas Thomas de Rodbergh, deceased, held part of his lands in the county of Gloucester of the said prior in socage, by service of 60s. yearly, and part of the king, and all the said lands were taken into the king’s hand at the death of the said Thomas, he prays for the king’s writ to the guardian of the said lands to pay him the said rent during the nonage of the heir.

The manor (extent given), held, jointly with Margery his wife of the gift and feoffment of Hugh de Dunham and Thomas Daggenham by fine levied in the king’s court, to hold to the said William and Margery and the heirs of the said William, of Geoffrey de Say by service of 1d. at Michaelmas.
Robert de Cheyny his brother, aged 30 years and more, is his next heir.

Patrikesbourn. A moiety of the manor, except a rood of land and the knights’ fees which sometime belonged to the said moiety, (extent given) including 16s. yearly from a custom called ‘Graserthe’; which moiety was sometime in the hand of William de Say, deceased, who held that manor with other lands and tenements of the king in chief by barony; and the said William, sixty years ago, gave the said moiety by charter (except the said rood and knights’ fees) to Alexander de Cheyny, grandfather of the said William de Cheyny, and to Agnes his wife, to hold to them and their heirs by service of a pair of gilt spurs or 6d. yearly, and by service of 12s. yearly at the king’s castle of Rochester; and after the death of the said Alexander and Agnes, the said William de Cheyny entered on the said moiety (except the said rood &c.), and afterwards gave it to Margaret de Sckirlond and to her heirs for ever, who gave the same to William de Cheyny, son of the said Alexander and Agnes, and to Margaret his wife and the heirs of their bodies; and William de Cheyny, son and heir of the said William and Margaret, died seised in form aforesaid.

The manor (extent given), whereof the capital messuage &c. 200a. land and the rents, are held of the archbishop of Canterbury as of his manor of Tenham by service of 33s. 10d. yearly, 4 1/2 hens at Christmas, 25 eggs at Easter, and doing suit at the archbishop’s court of Tenham every three weeks; 30a. land are held of Humphrey de Bohun in gavelkind, as of the manor of Osprynge which is in his hand by the king’s grant, by service of 2s. yearly, a hen at Christmas, and doing suit at the said manor every three weeks; 20a. land are held of Margery de Champayne in gavelkind, as of her manors of Norton and Newenham by service of 20s. yearly, 3 cocks and 13 hens at Christmas, and doing suit at her court in the said manors every three weeks; and 20a. land are held of the master and brethren of Maison Dieu (Domus Dei), Osprynge, in gavelkind, by service of 3s. 4 3/4d. yearly, 2 hens at Christmas, 50 eggs at Easter, and doing suit at their court of Osprynge every three weeks.
All held jointly with Margery his wife, by fine levied in the king’s court, of the gift of Hugh de Dunham, chaplain, and Thomas Pynke, to hold to them and the heirs of the said William for ever.
