King's Answer about a Place for Trial of Goudet & al.

The Lord Great Chamberlain reported His Majesty's Answer to the Address presented to Him on Friday last, for His giving Order for preparing a Place in Westm'r Hall for the Trial of John Goudet and others, to this Effect:

"That His Majesty will give Order, as desired."

Gold and Silver Thread, for better making of, and to prevent Abuses of Wire drawers, Bill.

The Earl of Stamford reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for settling and adjusting the Proportions of fine Silver and Silk, for the better making of Silver and Gold Thread, and to prevent the Abuses of Wire-drawers," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for settling and adjusting the Proportions of fine Silver and Silk, for the better making of fine Silver and Gold Thread; and to prevent the Abuses of the Wiredrawers."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Littleton and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, An Act for raising a Sum, not exceeding Two Millions, upon a Fund for Payment of Annuities after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Cent. per Annum; and for settling the Trade to the East Indias;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act, That the Ships Panther, Gloucester Frigot, Scarborough, and Antelope (formerly taken as Prizes and condemned) may have Freedom of trading as English-built Ships," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Dumaistre at the Bar:

This Day John Dumaistre, now in the Custody of the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, was brought to the Bar; where he kneeled, until he was bid stand up: And the Articles of Impeachment against him being read, was asked, "What he had to say for himself?"

Whereupon he desired, "A Copy of the Articles, and a convenient Time allowed to answer thereunto; and Counsel to assist him."

Then the Order following was made; (videlicet,)

To have a Copy of his Impeachment, and put in his Answer:

"Upon reading the Petition of John Dumaistre; praying, that he may be allowed Counsel, and a Copy of the Articles of Impeachment against him, and Time to answer: It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Dumaistre may have a Copy of the Articles against him; and shall and he is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Thursday the Thirtieth Day of this Instant June, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and Counsel allowed him."

Bailed.

Then John Dumaistre, offering Persons for his Bail who were taken to be sufficient Sureties for his Appearance, was called in, and entered into Recognizance with Sureties, as follows; (videlicet,)

"Joh'es Dumaistre recognovit se debere Domino Regi Quinque Mille Libras, levari ex Bonis, Catallis, Terris, et Tenementis suis, ad Usum dicti Domini Regis.

"Edward. Lambert recognovit se debere Domino Regi Duo Mille et Quingent. Libras, levari ex Bonis, Catallis, Terris, et Tenementis suis, ad Usum dicti Domini Regis.

"Gabriel. Tawarden recognovit se debere Domino Regi Mille et Quingent. Libras, levari ex Bonis, Catallis, Terris, et Tenementis suis, ad Usum dicti Domini Regis.

"Joh'es Palmer recognovit se debere Domino Regi Mille Libras, levari ex Bonis, Catallis, Terris, et Tenementis suis, ad Usum dicti Domini Regis.

"Upon Condition, That if the said John Dumaistre shall appear personally before the Lords in Parliament, from Day to Day, until the further Order of this House, then the said several Recognizances of the said John Dumaistre, Edward Lambert, Gabriel Tawarden, and John Palmer, to be void and of none Effect; or else to remain in full Force and Virtue."

Relief of Creditors, in Cases of Escapes, and to prevent Abuses in Prisons, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, An Act for "the further Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes, and for the further preventing Escapes, and other Abuses in the Keepers of Gaols."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Rochester reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress on the Bill."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to the same Committee as before; to meet on Wednesday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

East India Company against the Bill for settling the Trade to The East Indies.

Upon reading the Petition of the Governor and Company of Merchants of London trading into The East Indias, in a General Court assembled; praying, "That they may be heard, before the Second Reading of the Bill intituled, An Act for raising a Sum, not exceeding Two Millions, upon a Fund for Payment of Annuities after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, and for settling the Trade to The East Indias:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be heard, by their Counsel, as desired, on Thursday next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon; as also the King's Counsel for the Bill, if they think fit.

Adjourn.
