Bp. of Bristol takes the Oaths.

John Lord Bishop of Bristol took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Penn's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enabling George Penne Esquire to sell Lands, for the Payment of his Debts, and other Purposes therein mentioned."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Wednesday the Eighth Day of February next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Fitch versus Attorney General and Commissioners of Navy.

Whereas Friday next was appointed for hearing of the Cause wherein John Fitch Esquire is Appellant, and His Majesty's Attorney General and Commissioners of the Navy are Respondents:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Friday the Third Day of February next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Smallman versus Brayne & al.

Upon reading the Petition of Humphry Brayne, and Richard Walker, Respondents to the Appeal of William Smallman and Thomas Gregory, now depending in this House; praying, "That the Charter of the Town of Bridgenorth, in the County of Salop, which was produced at the hearing the said Cause in the Court of Exchequer (fn. 1)

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Charter shall be produced at the Hearing of the Cause in this House; the Petitioners giving such Security for the safe Return thereof as they did when the said Charter was produced in the Court of Exchequer.

Corn, Malt, &c. to prohibit the Exportation of, Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to prohibit the Exportation of any Corn, Malt, Meal, Flour, Bread, Biscuit, or Starch, for One Year, from the Twentieth Day of January, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-eight."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with Amendments to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir Richard Holford:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence to their Lordships Amendments.

Buttons, to prevent making of Cloth, &c. Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent the making or selling Buttons made of Cloth, Serge, Drugget, or other Stuffs."

And after some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

To which the House agreed.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to prevent the making or selling Buttons made of Cloth, Serge, Drugget, or other Stuffs."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Sir Sewster Peyton versus Skelton & al.

Whereas To-morrow was appointed for hearing of the Cause wherein Sir Sewster Peyton is Appellant, and John Skelton and Humphry Browne are Respondents:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause on Wednesday the First Day of February next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Berkeley & al. versus Cope & al.

Whereas Wednesday the First Day of February next was appointed for hearing the Cause wherein John Berkeley Esquire, Reginald Bretland Serjeant at Law, and Robert Fowle Goldsmith, are Appellants; and Jonathan Cope, William Cope, and Anthony Cope, Infants, by their Guardians Sir Thomas Peshall, Sir Robert Jenkinson, and Henry Farmer, are Respondents:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Saturday the Fourth Day of February next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.
