Henry Hughes of St Martin's, co. Middlesex, M.D. v William Jenkins of London, gent

Abstract

Hughes, physician to the Prince Elector, complained that Jenkins had within the last three weeks told Hughes that 'he was a base rogue and villaine', thereby provoking him to duel. Process was granted on 6 February 1640 and Hughes entered bond to prosecute the case on the 12^th; but no further proceedings survive.

In January 1638, Henry Hughes, doctor of physic was granted for 14 years the sole manufacture of barilla, paying the same sums as usually paid on that imported from Spain, etc.
