Michael Morfeld, gent v Owen Southwold

October 1637 - January 1638

Abstract

The cause and result of Morfeld's complaint against Southwold remain unknown. By October 1637 depositions had been taken from Southwold's witnesses and the case continued in January 1638, after which no proceedings survive.

Summary of proceedings

Dr Talbot acted as counsel for Morfield and Dr Eden for Southwold. On 14 October Dr Talbot had published the depositions of the witnesses. On 31 October the witnesses were published and sentence was to be heard at the next session. The court was due to hear sentence on the petition of Dr Talbot on 18 November 1637. There were further proceedings on 28 November 1637 and 27 January 1638.
