March. 1. Tuesday, Fairefax & Streete went before 9; Mainwaring went to Chester past 10, Morgan with him; Roger dined at Bromley's; about 3 came Mr Gerard & 2 Alderseys; then Arden & Yong; the first went before 4; the other before 5; Fowler came about work; Mainwaring retorned before 8; Roger past 9, Arden & Holland with him; Holland stayd late; I left them at 10; Arden stayd all night.
2.Wednesday, Mainwaring went past 8 to meete Lord Warington & others, & soe to Morton; Arden went neare 11; Roger with him; the coach went to Chester with John past 12, for Bidolph, Sidney, grandchildren,&c. they came back past 6; Roger came past 7.
3.Thursday, Mr Antwistle sent a man with a letter to me about his thithes; Morgan & the surgeon came before dinner; also Akerley about his lease; they dined with us; went about 2; Morgan stayd, went with Bidolph to the Coy; Roger went abroad; they all retorned about 6; a Welsh drover came to Morgan late; stayd all night; Grantham brought corne in the afternoone.
4.Friday, the Welsh drover went about 9; past 11 there came one Key, to speake with me about copper & lead ore; he dined, went presently away; Roger, Morgan & Houseman went abroad; came late home.
5.Satorday, Morgan went about 8 to Chester; Houseman past one; Jackson's man brought some lamb; Davyes came about stones in the arbor; Roger went to Chester; retorned with Houseman about 8.
6.Sonday, were not at church in the morning; Roger went in the afternoone; in the evening came Morgan, also Mainwaring & Minshall before 6.
7.Monday, Minshall went past 3; Mainwaring, Roger with him (they retorned past 6 interl.) Tomkinson came & dined here, went presently, I did not see him; Merry came to bargen for his leases.
8.Tuesday, Huson came from Frodesley about 9; Morgan went to Chester; past 11. 2 men came from Flintshire & a man from Bolton about the assessments; a woman from Chester to sell lace; Mainwaring & Bidolph & Roger went out about 3, retorned about 6.
9.Wednesday, Huson went past 7 to Shotwick; Roger to Chester about 9; Angell came hither about 11; Mainwaring went to dine at Utkinton; Alderman Lloyd, Edwards, Johnson, Deane, Parry, G.Mainwaring & Jackson came about 12; went past 4 with Angell,&c. Walthorne went to Chester about 1; retorned past 7.
10.Thursday, Morgan & Huson came before 12; also Stringer, he dined with us; after dinner came the schoolemaster of Tarperley, to speake with Mainwaring; & Roberts to speake with Morgan & Huson (& Gray to speake with me interl.); Mainwaring, Bidolph & Morgan went abroad, retorned past 7; Roger soone after them.
11.Friday, Nixon & the cowman went to Wrexam faire; Robin to Chester; also Mainwaring & Morgan before 12; Huson to Wrexam about 12; the Collyer came about cording wood; Roger (chaplen interl) & Houseman went abroad past 2; retorned past 6; Houseman past 9.
12.Satorday, Angell dined with us; after 3, Mr Offley's servant came to visit us; Mainwaring retorned past 5; Angell stayd all night.

13.Sonday, I was not at church; the rest were, Walthorne preached twice; Angell went about 10; Morgan came past 4.
14.Monday, Morgan went past 7 to Chester; Mainwaring & Roger past 9; Huson came past 10, & went to Chester about 12.
15.Tuesday, G.Mainwaring & Streete came before 9 (another with them) to take Bidolph's security for Morgan; the other man went away before 10; the 2 Alderman stayd to dinner; about one came Bellot, Aston, Vicars, Roger, Warburton, (Morgan interl.) Mainwaring, Jackson, &c. dined, went past 5; Mainwaring, Roger & Morgan brought them to Bromley's retorned about 8.
16.Wednesday, Huson came past 7, (went about 11 interl.) Morgan went to High Lee to receive the tax; Mainwaring went about 10 (Hardwar with him) to Northwich, retorned past 8; in the evening came a surgeon from Newcastle to bring Mainwaring a servant; also another man came with them; the surgeon supt with us.
17.Thursday, Mainwaring went to Chester past 10, about the reference; (Huson came past 10 interl.) Nixon & the mole catcher went to buy sheep; the Newcastle men retorned; before dinner there came 2 Chester gardners to my gardner, they dined in the buttry; I did not see them; also one Boudlen and another from Shropshire about money Roger owes & Fletcher & his wife (my tenant) from Farme about rent they owe & one Davyes from Shropshire to offer me his service; Mainwaring stayd at Chester all night.
18.Friday, Betty, Roger & sister Anne went to Utkinton past 10; Davyes retorned to Shropshire past 10; Atkys, Dager, Pursell & Hickman came past 10; also Crosby from Chester; Key & one Danold with them; they dined with me, went past 2; Conen came after dinner, did eate in the buttry; went about 4; Betty & Roger retorned before 6; Mainwaring came before 8; I & Roger sealed 4 leases to Atkis, &c. about 10; I sate up with them till 12; Screven of the Parke came in the evening about his arreares & the seisure of his goods; Gill brought some cowes & horses with him.
19.Satorday, Atkis, 2 Dakres & Purcell went about 10; Robinson came about money Roger owes him; the carts went to Chester for coales; Colonel Danyell came about sister Whitley's reference past 11; dined, went back past 5; Huson went to Chester past 10.
20.Sonday, I was not at church; Charlotte, sister Anne, &c. went in the morning; Roger, Mainwaring, &c. in the afternoone; Burgesse came from Shotwick.
21.Monday, Huson came about 10; ( the mole catcher went about dinner time interl.) about 12 came the vicar, after him Done; after prayers they went with Mainwaring, Roger, Walthorne, daughters, sisters,&c. to dine at Kent's; I and Bidolph dined at home (Houseman went to Tarporley interl.) Done, Vicar, &c. retorned past 4; Done stayd all night.
22.Tuesday, Huson went past 8 to Shotwick; also Bills & Houseman; Mrs Tucker went to Chester; after 9 Roger's daughter, her mayde, Hickman, Scriven, & Nixon went towards Shropshire; Gill to Ruabon; he retorned at night; also Bills & Burges with fish from Shotwick; Mainwaring & Roger dined at Tarporley (with Morgan) retorned past 6.
23.Wednesday, the carts went to Shotwick; Beardmore Brereton came about 12, dined,&c. Tomkinson came at dinner to get me write about his going to Sir Thomas Delves, but I refused; Mosse & Dutton came from Dysert at night.
24.Thursday, cosen Beardmore Brereton went about 10; Neale came about a lame horse; Gray about work; Houseman retorned from Shotwick.
25.Friday, (Good Friday) Mr Gerard came past 1, to give us the Sacrament; Lieutenant Bonnell came with him; we dined, past 3; they went about 5; Lee, an attorney of Chester came past 2 about money Roger owes Donnes of Shrewsbury, went presently back.

26.Satorday, Mainwaring & Houseman went past 7 to Wrexam; Huson came past 9; went about 11 to Chester; about 2 a man brought me a letter from one Mr Robinson to give my answer to a bill of Mrs Robinson's against Sir Thomas Powell in chancery; the man retorned past 3; I did not write by him; Mainwaring retorned past 8.
27.Sonday, I was not at church, Mainwaring, daughters,&c. were; in the afternoone Mainwaring & Roger went to Tarporley; Walthorne preached there; they retorned past 7; Huson came to me at 4; went past 6; Morgan came about 7.
28.Monday, Cartwright went past 6 to Huson's to goe with him to Bechin; retorned at night; about 12 came Crew, Lee & Aldersey; dined; the last went about 4; the other 2 neare 7; Attorney Minshall came about 5, stayd all night.
29.Tuesday, Attorney Minshall went about 8; the buttler & cowman went to Chester; about 11 came one Robinson to speake with me about my answer to Mrs Robinson's bill against Sir Thomas Powell, he went past 12; one Bunce came to me after dinner, to speake about cutting cord wood.
30.Wednesday, buttler came about 9 from Chester, left the cowman behinde him; cowman came about 12; Huson came about 10; Mainwaring & Roger went to Peover about 2; Morgan about 4 to Mold assisses; Huson went after him about 6; in the afternoone I discharged John the husbandman, &c. enterteined Griffith againe at 6 li. wages.
31.Thursday, John Griffith & carts went to Chester for coales; the coyman went to Banger about 11; about 12 came a man with a letter from Colonel Danyell & Mrs Jackson (after dinner interl.) with a letter from her husband about money Roger owes him; yong Huet came about 3, went at 4; also Cottrell to Bidolph, went presently; the carts came about 7 from Chester; Houseman about 9 from Tarperly & fishing.
