PRAYERS.
Grant to General Lambert.
MR. Garland reports an Act for settling Three hundred Pounds per Annum upon Major General John Lambert, and his Heirs: Which was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the same Committee that was appointed for the Act for the General: And that Mr. Robinson, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Martyn, be added to that Committee: And the Committee are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.
Invalid Soldiers, &c.
The humble Petition of divers maimed Soldiers, which have lost their Limbs, and of distressed Widows, whose Husbands have lost their Lives, in the Parliament Service under the Lord Fairefax, was this Day read.
Ordered, That the Sum of Twenty thousand Pounds, for the Composition of the Six Counties of North Wales, shall be paid unto the Treasurers of the Army; and shall be issued out by Warrant from the Committee of the Army, according to such Orders and Instructions as they have or shall receive from the Parliament, concerning military Affairs, and not otherwise.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to take into Consideration the Petition of the maimed Soldiers, and distressed Widows, this Day read; to consider what is fit to be done for the Relief of the Petitioners and to take such Order therein, as they shall think fit.
Militia.
An Act for settling the Militias of the respective Counties of England and Wales was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to a Committee of the whole House.
Resolved, &c. That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee on This-day-month, to take this Bill into Consideration: And that Mr. Speaker do then put the House in mind thereof; and leave the Chair accordingly.
Preserving the Peace.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to give Power and Instructions to such Persons, within the several and particular Counties in England and Wales, as they shall think fit, for preserving the Peace of the Commonwealth, and Preventing of all Tumults, Insurrections, and Invasions.
