ALDERTON

(19 miles N. of Cirencester)

The alleged hill-fort on Dixton Hill (SO 985305), formerly known as Castle Hill, (fn. 1) and the 'motte' associated with it cannot be accepted as such. The surface features are partly geological and partly due to later human disturbance (see p. xxxi).
