Schedule of Fixtures at No. 45 Grosvenor Square, 1733

This schedule is contained in a lease in the Grosvenor Office dated 3 December 1733 from Thomas Richmond, carpenter, to Philip Dormer, Earl of Chesterfield.

IN the Six Garretts—Eight Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters thereto Three Portland Chimney pieces and Slabs and Hearths, Five Closetts with Doors to the same also Six Doors to the Garretts, A Skylight at the head of the great Stairs.

IN the two front Rooms on the two pair of Stairs Floor—Five Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, The Rooms compleatly wainscotted, Two Marble Chimney pieces and Slabs with firestone Hearths and Covings, Three Closetts with Shelves and Doors to the same and two Doors to the Rooms.

IN the back Room next the Garden—Two Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, The Room compleatly wainscotted, a Marble Chimney piece and Slab with firestone Hearth and Covings, Two Doors to the Room and two Closetts with Shelves and Doors to the same.

IN the two Rooms and dressing Room adjoining—Six Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, Two Marble Chimney pieces and Slabs compleat A Portland one compleat, seven Cupboards with Doors and Shelves. The Rooms compleatly wainscotted, four Doors to the Rooms, Brass Knobs to all the Sashes and Shutters in this Floor.

IN the Room one pair of Stairs forward—Three Sash windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, The Room compleatly wainscotted with Modillion Cornish & Dentill Bedmold around the same, Two Ionic Pillasters next the Chimney with the Entablature over them, A Marble Chimney piece with Slab Slips and Nosings with a Cornish over the Mantle, Firestone Hearth and Covings, Two Doors with Pediments over them.

IN the Wing or great Room next the Garden—Five Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, The Room compleatly wainscotted, Two Doric Pillasters with the Entablature over them A Marble Chimney piece with a Cornice over the Mantle Slab Slips and Nosings, Firestone Hearth and Covings one Door to the Room, and a Pair of Pedestall folding Doors.

IN the Hall and Staircase—Three Sash Windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto The Hall wainscotted compleat, Two Ionic Pillasters with the Entablature carved around the Hall (The Staircase Painted) A Wainscot Staircase with Twist Rails & Ballisters carved Bracketts, also the Caps of Columns and Pillasters a Portland Chimney piece Brass Knobs to all the Shutters and Sashes in this Floor.

IN the Housekeeper's Room below Stairs next the front Arey—Three Sash windows compleatly glazed with outside Shutters and plate Bolts, The Room compleatly wainscotted, a Closet with Door to the same, a Portland Chimney piece with Slab and Hearth, Three firestone Stoves with Grates and Boxes fixt to them, a Leaden Cistern with Pipes and Brass Cock to the same, a Door to the Room.

IN the Pantry next the fore Arey—One Sash Window compleat with outside Shutters and Plate Bolts thereto The Rooms wainscotted, A Portland Chimney piece and Slab, Two Closetts with Shelves, two Doors to the same, a Door to the Room, a Leaden Cistern with Pipes and a brass Cock to the same.

IN the Steward's Room—Two Sash windows compleatly glazed with inside Shutters thereto, The Room wainscotted about six foot high, a Portland Chimney piece and Slab, with firestone hearth, a Door to the Room.

Two Wine Vaults next the Passage with Binns, a Pantry with Shelves

IN the Servants Hall—Four Windows with inside Shutters Kirb and Iron Bars over Ditto in the Garden, The Hall wainscotted about six foot high, a Portland Chimney piece, Two Appartments divided off with Partions Story high, Leaden Pipes laid from the force Pump to the Marble Bason in the Middle Room Ground Floor, with a Brass Cock to one of them.

IN the Front Arey—Four Vaults with Doors.

IN the back Arey—A Vault with a Door, a Flatt covered with Lead leading to the Kitchen Passage in which is a Wine Vault with Binns, and a Door to the same.

IN the Kitchen Arey—a Cool Larder with a Bressimer Front wired, a Door to the same and two Dressers, a Deal Dresser in the Washhouse, a Pump compleat, and Elm Dresser and Sash Window in the Scullery, The flat over the Washhouse and Arey leaded, a Door to the same and Scullery, a Large Leaden Cistern with water pipes, Brass Cocks and Bosses with a Ball Cock to the same, a Pipe laid from the Cistern to the force pump in the Garden to convey the water into the Cistern at the Top of the water Closet

IN the Garden—A Boghouse wainscotted with a Door to the same, a leaden Bason with Bosses and wast pipes and Seat compleat.

IN the Kitchen—Three Sash Windows compleat, Two large Dressers and Shelves with Drawers under Ditto A Cool Larder adjoining with Dressers and Shelves, a Sash Window to the same, An Oven with an Iron Door, a Portland Chimney piece, four Stoves with Grates and Boxes set in Brick work with an Iron Rim around the same a Door to the Coal Vault and two Kitchen Doors, a Leaden Sink with a Pipe and brass Cock.

The Water laid from the Tree to serve the Cisterns in the front Arey, housekeeper's Room and Butler's Pantry, also the back Arey, the Kitchen Arey, washhouse and Sink in Kitchen.

IN the Rooms over the Scullery—A Sash Window with inside Shutters thereto, a Portland Chimney piece & Slab and Hearth, a Door to the Room.

IN the Room over the last mentioned Room—Two Sash Windows with inside Shutters thereto a Portland Chimney piece Slab and firestone hearth, a Door to the Room.

IN the Landry—Three Sash windows with inside Shutters and Iron fastnings thereto, a Portland Chimney piece and Slab, a Door to the Room

IN the Stables—Standings for twelve horses with turn'd Columns, Bailes, Rings, Chains, Staples, Racks and Mangers compleat, Two Corn Binns, outside Shutters to the Window, three Coach houses divided, a Hay loft over the Stables with a Window and Shutters to the same, three Windows with Shutters to the same belonging to Coachmen and Grooms Rooms over the Coachhouses, a Crane to the Hay loft Door, a Lead water trough to convey the wast water into the Stable Yard, The water laid into the Cistern in the Stables.

ABOUT the Outside of the House—Stone Steps and Iron Rails in the Front Arey, Iron Pallasades to Ditto and back Arey, Rain Lead Waterpipe, with proper Fastnings to all the outside Doors and Shutters.
