Commission of oyer and terminer to John de Insula, Henry le Scrop, Adam de Midelton and John de Donecastre, on complaint by Master Robert de Ripplingham, chancellor of the church of St. Peter, York, that Gerard, prior of Bridelington, brother Roger de Thorne, Walter Trussebot, Robert de Harpham, John le Mareschal of Bridelington the younger, Thomas le Breustere, Richard le Lasceles, John Grimet of Acclum and John his son, Adam Frost and William de Touthorpe with an armed mob, contrary to the proclamation made by the king before setting out for Scotland, blockaded his dwelling house at Acclum by Lepington, co. Norfolk, that Walter bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, when treasurer of the late king with others of their town, broke the town chest, carried away the common seal of the town and sealed a writing by which they, the poor men and the burgesses of the town, are bound to him in a sum of 1,000 marks, and also a second writing for the yearly payment of 40l. to the bishop of Norwich and his successors. Sussex, from which they escaped alive to the land, touching the persons who, as wreck of sea, stripped the ship of its gear and carried away the wine, cloth, linen, wheat, bran, spices and other wares, the armour, robes, couches, chests, gold and silver money, precious stones, gold rings and other jewels found on board her.

Dorset, seisin of which he had recovered against them, and which the sheriff of the county of Dorset, by William Capus, king's bailiff, was willing to deliver to him, burned his mill, and assaulted his men and servants. The like to Hervey de Stanton and William de Colneye, on complaint by Joan, late the wife of James de Clopton, that John Walkefare, Robert Walkefare, Adam Elsy and John Truke the younger, with other armed men, contrary to the prohibition issued by the sheriff of the county of Cambridge under the king's precept forbidding tournaments and deeds of arms, entered her dwelling-house at Iselham, co. Cambridge, and carried away her goods, after she had received from the sheriff and coroners for the county of Cambridge, upon making a payment to the Exchequer, delivery of the goods of her late husband, who was hanged for felony. Commission of oyer and terminer to John de Insula, Richard Waleys and Hugh de Louther, on complaint by Walter bishop of Worcester, master of the hospital of St. Leonard, York, that Nicholas son of Capin, mayor of the city of York, with others of that city, have infringed the liberties and immunities granted by the late king to the hospital by usurping jurisdiction within its liberty; also by making distraints and attachments, assessing tallages, exacting divers sums of money for forestalling and trespasses of the assize of bread and ale, and also pontage, pavage and murage from tenants of the hospital resorting to the city with goods and wares for sale, as well as other tallages and prests, and have by proclamation forbidden any of the city to have dealings with them.

The commissioners are to report what expenses have been incurred by the bishop and prior in repairing the breaches, and what compensation should be made to them on that account
