Grant to the Girdlers of London, on their petition to the king and parliament, enjoining the observance of the ordinance that no man of the mistery shall garnish any girdle of silk, wool, leather or linen with baser metal than latoun, baterie, fer et asser, and that all work of baser metal shall be burned; the said mistery in the city being greatly damaged by its members without the city garnishing girdles with false work of lead, pewter or tin; and that in London and in all cities and towns in the realm the men of the mistery dwelling there shall elect one or two of their number to see that it is observed, and that all false work is burned by the mayors or chief persons of the same. Confirmation of ordinances drawn up by virtue of a writ of Edward I. to Henry le Galeys, then mayor of London, and the sheriffs, for the regulation of the bakers and millers in the city, appointing the hurdle for bakers who made bread contrary to the assize and for millers who filched corn; and the tun for breakers of the peace at night; also weights, scales and houses for weighing the corn when ground, that every man might have back his full weight, a custom of one maille to be taken on every quarter weighed; provided, however, that no foreigner be compelled to weigh his corn.
