PREFACE.
The present volume forms part of a series of Calendars of the Patent Rolls from the reign of Edward I. to that of Henry VII. the object and character of which are explained in the Preface to the first volume for the reign of Edward III. (a.d. 1327–1330.) The text has been prepared, under my immediate supervision, by Mr. R. F. Isaacson, of the Public Record Office, and he has also compiled the Index.
