Final Concords, Lancashire

Fines, or final concords, were used as a means of creating a legal record land ownership. They arose from often fictitious disputes over property and were simply a way of having the transfer of ownership of land recorded officially by the king's court. The records in this series relate to the county of Lancashire for the period 1189-1588.
