42. The Privy Council to the Warden of the East March. [Jan. 25. 1579–80.]

As the Queen understands there is a great decay of horses there, she has commanded that you forthwith enquire what number of horsemen were in service within your wardenry in the first year of her reign—how many there are now, and how furnished?
