Writ of supersedeas omnino, in respect of any process against John Onley late mayor of the staple of Calais, appointed with others to make inquisition in Guynes and Artoys concerning all lands, rents, services, woods, marshes, fisheries, profits etc. to the castle and lordship of Hammes belonging, but order to proceed against others who did meddle therein; as that commission came never to the hands of the said John, as sufficient witness is borne in chancery.

Order to give notice to Richard archbishop of York to be in chancery in the quinzaine of Easter next, in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of William Derley of Notyngham, writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of Edmund Dyve and Thomas Whatton of Notynghamshire and Hugh Whatton and John Boghes of Leycestershire to set the appellant free, if taken; as at the request of the archbishop, signifying that by his authority as ordinary William Derley of his diocese was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify him by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the papal see, and is prosecuting his appeal, and the king has given him the day aforesaid; and Edmund Dyve and the others have mainperned in chancery to have him there that day, and that he shall prosecute his appeal.

Order at his peril upon sight etc. to cause proclamation to be made, that all knights, esquires and other fencible men of that county shall under pain of forfeiture and the pains in the statutes contained with all speed make ready, furnish and array themselves as their estate and means require according to the statutes, holding themselves in array ready to march and resist the king's enemies whensover peril shall threaten; as the king's purpose is shortly to march towards Wales for safeguard and defence of those parts and chastisement of the rebels there, and his will is with meet remedies to thwart the malice and constant attacks of the enemies who surround him on every side, and peradventure will strive in his absence to attack the realm and his lieges, and to do what mischief they may. Order to give notice to Henry bishop of Norwich to be in chancery a month after Easter next in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of Nicholas Mayu of Folsham of his diocese, writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of Henry Rangeour of Hertfordshire, William Knottyngle of Yorkshire, John Smyth of Tottille co. Middlesex and Thomas Dyngdagelle of Cornwall to set the appellant free, if taken; as at the request of the bishop, signifying that by his authority as ordinary the said Nicholas was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify him by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the see of Rome and for protection of the court of Canterbury, and is purposing to prosecute his appeal as he avers, and the king has given him the day aforesaid; and Henry Rangeour and the others have mainperned in chancery to have him there at that day, and that he shall prosecute his appeal.

Thomas Garlethorp citizen and fishmonger of London of the one part and John Hunte of Chelchehethe and Joan his wife of the other part. Defeasance after the decease of the said Thomas of 4 marks of rent a year granted to him and his heirs, by fine levied at Westminster in the quinzaine of Trinity 4 Henry IV, of a messuage, 36 acres of land and 1½ acre of meadow in Chelchehethe of the said John and Joan, upon condition that the rent shall be paid during his life, and covenant that if during his life that rent shall be in arrear, it shall be lawful for him to distrain upon all lands of the said John in Chelchehethe co. Middlesex, but if the same shall be one quarter in arrear the said fine shall remain in force; also defeasance of a bond of the said Thomas in 100l., upon condition that the said John and Joan, their heirs, executors or assigns shall not be troubled by his heirs after his decease by virtue of the said fine.
