John de Kyngesfold of the one part, Sir William Barre of Billyng and Margaret his wife of the other part. Indenture granting to the said William and Margaret and to the heirs of the said William's body the manor of Stonton Barre subject during the next 24 years to a yearly rent of 20 marks, and for 24 years from the death of the said William and Margaret to a yearly rent of 40 marks, power being reserved to the said John and his heirs to distrain for arrears of the former rent, and to enter again in his first estate if the latter rent be half a year in arrear, but the same shall be discharged so long as they shall have the wardship of the said William's heirs being minors; also giving to the said William all the stock, goods and chattels which the said John has upon the manor. Covenant that the said William and Margaret or the said heirs shall not suffer the manor to be lost by their default, contrivance, collusion or covin. Indenture of defeasance of the foregoing recognisance, upon condition that whereas by fine Robert Pygas and Elizabeth his wife hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to John Jewe and his heirs, the moiety of a messuage and one carucate of land in Whitchurche, a moiety of the advowson of Pillesdon chapel, and a moiety of the manor of Pillesdon except the moiety of a messuage, 30 acres of land, 3 acres of meadow, 2 acres of wood and 5 acres of moor in Stodlegh sometime in the tenure of Robert Stodlegh, they shall make no alienation, grant or demise of the premises whereby the said remainder shall be barred.
