March 1399

March 26.
Westminster.
To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Writ of supersedeas, if the treasurer shall be assured that Thomas Feriby clerk did make a fine before the council for certain impeachments made against him, and has paid the same, and that his goods and chattels were seized for that cause, in respect of their demand upon Janico Dartasso, John Elyngeham serjeant at arms and John Mendethorp to account or answer for such chattels, and order to discharge them; as the complaint of the said Janico and the others shews that on 5 December 21 Richard II the king appointed them to arrest the said Thomas and bring him straightway before the king and council, and to seize all his goods and chattels wherever found, and safe keep the same until further order, shewing that he after made a fine for the said impeachments by reason whereof the seizure was made, and paid the same at the receipt of the exchequer, and that the king commanded them altogether to stay the further execution of the said commission, giving the same up in chancery, and so they did, without that that they took or had any profit or parcel of the said goods to the use of the king or otherwise, but that the treasurer and the barons are distraining them to account and answer for the same, wherefore they have prayed for remedy.
