Worcester, their members and appurtenances, and all other his lands, rents, services, fees, advowsons etc. within the precincts thereof, upon condition that if he, his heirs or executors shall pay 5,333l. 6s. 8d. to Thomas earl of Notyngham marshal of England, his attorneys or executors, at London in his inn of the Ryall, to wit 333l. 6s. 8d. at Martinmas next, 500l. at Whitsuntide following, 500l. at Martinmas following, (and eight other like half yearly payments), acquittances dated at the Ryall under the seal of arms of the earl of Notyngham or his executors being delivered for every payment or for the whole sum, which acquittances shall at the cost of the earl of Warrewyke be enrolled in chancery or other court of record, it shall then be lawful for the earl of Warrewyke and his heirs to enter and hold the manors etc. aforesaid in his first estate, provided always that if the earl of Warrewyke, his heirs or executors shall allege in any court of record any acquittance other than as above declared, the feoffees shall have the fee simple in those manors etc., that until full payment made no title of freehold, fee or right in any of them or in any parcel thereof may be or anywise accrue to the earl of Warrewyke, his heirs or assigns, by any deed, title, entry, claim, art or device, and that if he, his heirs or executors shall fail to make any payment or to have any acquittance as aforesaid this charter and the seisin thereupon had shall for ever remain in force. Grant and quitclaim with warranty of Sweyneseye castle and the whole land and lordship of Gower in Wales, also of the manor, land and lordship of Kylveye and the manors of Landymour, Russelly and Kythulle, with all other lands, rents, reversions, liberties, customs and services which he has, or which may accrue or belong to him or his heirs within the said lordships in Wales; and proviso with regard to the lordship of Kylveye and the manors aforesaid, that the effect of this warranty shall be to bar the earl of Warrewyke and his heirs, and not extend to recovery of the value against them by voucher, writ of warranty of charter or otherwise. Covenant that he and his heirs shall take no advantage of such warranty against the said Joan by way of voucher or to have land to the value thereof, but only to bar the heirs of the body of the said Thomas. To the bailiffs of Canterbury. Order to send into chancery the record and process of a cause in the city court of Canterbury, according to the liberties granted to the citizens by charters of former kings, between John Lyncoln and Edmund Horn for debt, and this writ, so that the king may view the same, and deal further as should be done according to law and the custom of England, writ of supersedeas in regard to execution of judgment therein, and order by mainprise of Thomas Jokham and William Arderne of Kent to set the defendant free if taken; as manifest error has crept into the said record and process and the rendering of judgment it is said, and the king's will is that any error be corrected; and the said Thomas and William have mainperned in chancery to content the plaintiff of 10l. by him recovered in the said court and 3s. 4d. damages to him adjudged, if the judgment shall be affirmed, and that the defendant shall effectually prosecute this writ.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100l., made in chancery 5 June this year by William Creke, Richard Durvyle, Henry Shardelowe and Richard Hauke for John Bernard of Berkhampstede, and of an undertaking by him under the same pain, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Alice who was wife of John Moreton or Margaret wife of John Harwe, their men or servants.

To the sheriff of Wiltesir. Order to give notice to Thomas archbishop of Canterbury to be in chancery in the quinzaine of Michaelmas next, which day the king has given to William Wynselawe chaplain, executor of John Bytterlegh late citizen of New Sarum of the province of Canterbury who had goods in divers dioceses, in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal, writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of John Carbenall of London 'goldsmyth' and John Tomelyn parson of Wyntreborne Monketon co. Dorset to set the said chaplain free if taken; as at the request of the archbishop, signifying that he was excommunicated for contumacy by authority of William late archbishop as ordinary, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify the said chaplain by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the court of Rome and for protection of the court of Canterbury, as appears by a notarial instrument produced in chancery, and is minded effectually to prosecute his appeal, and such writ issues by favour of the king; and John Carbenall and John Tomelyn have mainperned in chancery to have him there at the day named.
John Garton of Erhythe in the parish of Lyesnes of Kent and Alice his wife to John Norton, son and heir of Richard Norton late citizen and merchant of London, his heirs and assigns. Charter indented with warranty of two pieces of arable land lying apart in 'Eldegate' field in the east marsh of Liesnes between land of John Norton on the east, west, north and south, in exchange for one acre of meadow land, which pieces among other lands the grantor had by feoffment of Thomas Bradfeld clerk, reciting a charter (text follows), dated Lyesnes 25 October 12 Richard II and witnessed by William atte Wode, Walter Gest, Henry Bayle, John Ayleward and John Londoun, whereby the said Thomas gave with warranty to John Gartone, son of John Gartone sometime citizen and mercer of London, and to the said Alice, their heirs and assigns, all the lands, rents, services, woods, ways, hedges, ditches, suits of court, liberties etc. in the town and parish of Lyesnes and Earde co. Kent which he had by feoffment of John Basse, Thomas Weylond, James Snowe, Simon Ingerham and Geoffrey Bircham citizens of London; and covenant that if in time to come the said parties shall without fraud and covin make any claim upon the lands of John Garton or John Norton, either party shall return and hold again the land granted in exchange as in his former estate. Oath of the mayor of London, truly to serve the king in the office of the mayoralty, to safe guard the city to the use of the king and his heirs, to make the king's profit in all things that to him pertain, to guard the rights of the king in the city in whatsoever pertains to the crown, not to assent to withdrawal or concealment of the king's rights or franchises, and wheresoever he shall know that the rights of the king or crown be concealed or withdrawn in lands, rents, franchises or suits to do his utmost to recover the same, and if he may not so do to tell the king or them of his counsel of whom he is certain that they shall tell the king, lawfully to entreat the people of his bailiwick, doing right to every man, strangers and privy persons, poor and rich, so far as to him pertains, and doing no wrong to any man for nobleness nor riches, for gift nor promise, favour nor enmity, troubling no man's right, and taking nought whereby the king shall lose or right be disturbed, and dealing lawfully in all things which [it pertains] to the mayor to do, as well in ruling of victuals as in all else.
