Westminster.
To the escheator in Gloucestershire and the march of Wales adjacent. Order to give Eleanor who was wife of Roger de Mortuo Mari late earl of March and Ulster livery of such dower to her assigned as is in his bailiwick of the castles, lordships, manors, lands, knights' fees, advowsons and other the possessions of the earl in England, Wales and the marches thereof; as at her petition the king granted for her peace that of the castles, lands etc. whereof inquisitions were then returned in chancery she should have her dower assigned of whole castles, lands etc. lying together, and the issues, profits, commodities, emoluments etc. thereof since the earl's death, notwithstanding that inquisitions by writs of diem clausit extremum and other writs taken or yet to be taken concerning the lands, etc. of the earl whereof she is dowable were not returned, and that if hereafter it should be found by any inquisition concerning other lands etc. of the earl that he had such estate therein that she is thereof dowable, she should be dowered of whole castles etc. lying together as aforesaid, as freely as if all such inquisitions were then returned, any assignment made by virtue of that grant and any course of chancery used to the contrary notwithstanding; and with assent of Nicholas Bubbewyth clerk her attorney, and of Edward duke of Aumarle to whom the king committed the ward of all the earl's lands in England, and John duke of Exeter to whom he committed the ward of all in Southwales, of the lands etc. whereof inquisitions are returned the king has assigned to the said Eleanor, having taken of her an oath etc., the castle of Uske, the tower of Kaerlioun, the lordships of Uske, Kaerlioun, Trilleke and Tregruke in the said march to the value of 466l. 13s. 4d., the manors of Brymesfelde, Biseleighe and Wynston to the value of 13l. 10s. 10d. over and above 40l. a year due to Edmund de Mortuo Mari knight the earl's brother and to the heirs of his body by grant of the earl, and the hamlets of Cheorlton and Hamptonet to the value of 54s. in the said county, the lordship of Kery in the march of Wales adjacent to Salop to the value of 84l. 14s. 9d., the manors of Cleobury to the value of 20l., Ernewode to the value of 7l. 6s. 8d., Hugley to the value of 110s., Chailemersche and Eudoun to the value of 8l., Staunton Lacy to the value of 100s. over and above 20l. a year due to Roger Pertryche for life by grant of the earl, the manor of Tykenhulle and town of Beaulieu to the value of 113s. 4d. in Salop, the castle and lordship of Buelt in the march of Wales adjacent to Herefordshire to the value of 66l. 13s. 4d., the manors of Orleton to the value of 45s. 11s. 5½d., Eorleslane to the value of 21l. 5s. 4d., Nethewode to the value of 6l., Wolfrelowe to the value of 20s. over and above 100s. a year due to Alice Benet and 20s. a year to Rose Childe for their lives by grant of Edmund earl of March, Wynfreton to the value of 20l. 12s. 8d., and Malmeshulle Lacy to the value of 7l. 19s. 2d. over and above 20 marks a year due to Walter Bromewyche for life by grant of earl Edmund, a messuage, half a carucate of land and 2 acres of meadow in Colynton to the value of 13s. 4d., a toft, half a virgate of land, 3 acres of meadow and 10 acres of wood in Bradwardyn to the value of 22s., a yearly rent of 11s. 11½d. there, a toft, half a virgate of land, 4 acres of meadow and 6 acres of wood in Little Cowerne to the value of 13s. 4d., a yearly rent of 11s. 2d. there, a toft, two carucates of land and 3 acres of meadow in Noke to the value of 4l. and a rent of 13s. 4d. there in Herefordshire, the manors of Erhethe and Swanescompe to the value of 38l. 6s. 8d. over and above 10l. a year due to Leonard Hakeluyt for life by grant of the said earl Edmund, a site (citum) called the 'Stronde' in Grenwyche [and] 3 acres of arable land there to the value of 2s., three quarters of a dovecot there to the value of 6s. 8d., and 70 acres of meadow at 'Depfordistronde' to the value of 116s. 8d. in Kent, the manor of Lacchelegh co. Hertford to the value of 33l. 10s. 7d., an annuity of 21s. 3d. to be taken of a rent of assize at Shyre co. Surrey, and the manor of Trayton co. Sussex to the value of 8l., with all liberties, royalties, jurisdictions, profits etc. to the same belonging, and the issues thereof since her husband's death, subject to the aforesaid rents payable to the said Edmund and to the heirs of his body, the said Leonard and the others for their lives, and after their deaths to the king and his heirs until the lawful age of the earl's heir, and then to the said heir.
