Antwerp.
5. King Philip to the Select Council. Has received the account of their proceedings with much satisfaction. Recommends the affairs of the Realm to their diligent care. Accredits John de Figueroa to confer with them on the subject of the Royal Titles. Lat.

6. Sir John Masone to Devonshire. A truce has been concluded. The Estates to assemble at Brussells. King Philip will shortly go to England. Great part of the Priests of England wish the Cardinal back again in Rome. Robbery and murders on London Bridge.
Feb. 23. 7. Account of monies received by Walter Prune, for the use of the Earl of Devonshire, from 1 Nov. 1554 to 23 Feb. 1555.

8. Anth. Visct. Montague to the Earl of Devonshire. Is very desirous to hear of his safe arrival in Italy. Hopes he will be able to avoid the numerous evils which will be daily before his sight.

9. John Storie to same. Prays for his prosperity, so useful in future to the Christian religion and his native land. The Queen and the Cardinal (Pole) have the spiritual and civil matters of the realm in contemplation. Justice is reduced to order by the activity of the present Lord Chancellor (Nich. Heath, Archbishop of York).
Feb. 23 (?) 10. The Select Council to the King. Have conferred with Signor Figueroa concerning the matter of Their Majesties' titles, and cannot, as faithful Counsellors, accede to the proposition. The Lord Privy Seal and Bishop of Ely, are coming over to his Majesty.

11. Anth. Kemp to Devonshire. Makes excuse for not writing, being so engaged in posting between Greenwich and Brussells. The King not yet returned to England, whose absence makes the Queen melancholy.
Feb. (?) 12. Wm. Bygott to the Council. Details the circumstances of his receiving a letter from Andrew Ryvett: confesses his error, and throws himself upon the Queen's mercy. [On the 16 th of Feb. 1555–6 Wm. Bygott was committed to the Tower for receiving a seditious letter from Andrew Ryvett. Co. Reg.]
Feb. (?) 13. Draft of the above. [In a P.S. (which is not added to the above) he asks leave to go to chapel, and receive the Sacrament.]
