Abstract

Davylle complained that three months previously he was struck down by the Theakers and Chester, men 'of meane quality', in the Palace Yard at Westminster. He maintained that they had intended to murder him and petitioned that they be made to answer before the Earl Marshal. No further proceedings survive.

'Humbly sheweth that your petitioner being sodenly assaulted some 3 months since, in the Pallace yard at Westminster, by William Theaker, Edward Theaker, and William Chester, who after they had stroke him downe to the ground, grievously wounded him in the head and diverse other partes of the body, with purpose to murder him. Humbly prayeth that the persons being of meane quality your lordship would be pleased to call them before your honor and upon dew examination of the cause to take such course for theire punishments as your lordship in wisdom shall think fitt. And your petitioner shall pray and c.'
