They are to recover the goods so carried away, to collect the issues and profits of the abbey, and, after reserving a reasonable sum for the maintenance of the abbey, to apply the residue in the discharge of its debts and to the best interests of the house. Promise to repay to Dynus Forest, Peter Bynse, Francis de Boys and other merchants of the society of the Bardi of Florence 450l., which at the king’s request they have undertaken to pay to Guy son and heir of Simon Guy, being the balance of 750l. wherein the late king was bound to Simon Guy by letters patent. The original letters, while in the custody of the merchants, were removed by some persons during the late disturbance in the city of London, but queen Isabella has testified that the sum in question was due to Simon, and that she herself, out of pity, has paid 300l. thereof to Guy. Mandate to John de Crumbwell, keeper of the forest beyond Trent, or such as shall supply his place in Ingelwode Forest to admit to the custody of the bailiwick of Plumpton in the latter forest such person as shall be nominated by Henry de Acun, ‘chaufcire.’ The said bailiwick was lately taken into the king’s hands because of a trespass in vert and venison committed by Thomas son of John de Hoton, and has been granted to Henry de Acun, for service to the late king in the Chancery, for such time as it remains in the king’s hands, but he is too much occupied in the business of the Chancery to execute the office in person.
