Victoria County History - Hertfordshire

Founded in 1899 and originally dedicated to Queen Victoria, the Victoria County History (VCH) is an encyclopaedic record of England's places and people from earliest times to the present day. It has been described as the greatest publishing project in English local history. A History of the County of Hertford: Volume 2
This volume covers the south and west of the county and includes areas, such as Barnet and Elstree, that are now within greater London. It also includes a detailed account of the city and cathedral of St Albans.
