Footnotes

  • 1. On the back of the volume is the usual modern description in Italian: ‘Calisto iii. 1455. Anno. 1. Lib. 3.’ The contemporary flyleaf has disappeared, but on the bottom edge is the usual contemporary description, hardly legible: ‘Tertius de prebendis et dignitatibus, de prebendis vacaturis anno primo domini nostri domini Calisti pape iii.’ The first and latter parts of the volume are badly water-stained, and the heading at the top of f. i., viz. ‘de prebendis et dignitatibus vacaturis anno primo,’ is barely visible.
  • 2. A variant of the usual incipit ‘Nobilitas generis, litterarum etc.’
