1472. 14 Kal. May. (18 April.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 40v.)	To the archdeacon of Reynel (de Rinello) in the diocese of Toul (Tullen.), the provost de Bothell in the diocese of Glasgow, and Duncan Bunche, a canon of Glasgow. Mandate to collate and assign to John Otterburn, priest, perpetual chaplain at the altar of Holy Trinity in the parish church of St. John de Are, in the diocese of Glasgow, the perpetual vicarage of Kyrkyntuloch in the said diocese, value 9l. sterling, void by the death of Thomas de Cariberis extra R.c.; notwithstanding that he holds the said chaplaincy, value 4l. sterling. 1471. 8 Kal. Sept. (25 Aug.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 137r.)	To the official of Whiteherne (Candide case). Decree etc., as below. Paul ii ordered, under date 5 Non. May anno 7 (3 May, 1471), a certain judge to collate and assign to John Makyncardi, clerk, of the diocese of Whiteherne, the parish church of Monygoff in the said diocese, wont to be governed by canons of the monastery of Tongla[n]d, O. Prem… in the same diocese, value 9l. sterling, then void by the death of John Akyngan (fn. 2)extra R.c., and so long void that its collation had lapsed to the apostolic see, although Thomas Oliver, behaving as a canon of the said order, had detained it for between one and two years. Under pretext of a collation made to him by authority of the ordinary, he being illegitimate, the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, and having obtained no canonical dispensation on account thereof; the said Thomas being summoned and removed, and the said John being specially dispensed to receive the said church, and to retain it for life. The said pope having died before his letters were drawn up, the pope hereby decrees that the said grant shall hold good from the said date, and that these presents shall be sufficient proof thereof, and orders the above official to execute the same. 1472. 6 Kal. July. (26 June.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 196v.)	To the prior of St. Mary's, Inchmacnerin (de Insula Machneri), in the diocese of Elphin, Alexander Omurchri, a canon of Achonry (Akaden.), and the official of the same. Mandate to collate and assign to Cornelius Macabrehcim, priest, of the diocese of Tuam, the perpetual vicarage of Sclanpadraig in the said diocese, value 1 mark sterling, so long void by the death of Thomas Odulcarga extra R.c. that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see. 1471[–2]. Kal. Feb. (1 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 326v.)	To the official of St. Andrews. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Alexander Scheray, priest, of the diocese of Aberdeen, contained that on the voidance of the perpetual vicarage of Lochoutwart in the diocese of St. Andrews by the death of John Lanedy extra R.c., the vicar-general of bishop Patrick, having special power from the said bishop, made collation and provision of it to the said Alexander. At his said petition, adding that he fears lest the said collation and provision do not hold good, the pope hereby orders the above official to collate and assign to him the said vicarage, value 9l. sterling. 1471. 7 Id. Oct. (9 Oct.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 394r.)	To the official of Glasgow. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Andrew Stewart, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, M.A., contained that after Pius II had revoked all faculties granted to any bishops etc. to dispense on account of illegitimacy, the bishop of Glasgow, alleging that he had special faculty from Calixtus iii, dispensed in virtue thereof the said Andrew on account of illegitimacy, as the son of an unmarried nobleman and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold two incompatible benefices, after which, without having obtained any other dispensation, he had himself so promoted, and the lay patrons of the canonry and prebend of Kylleren in Glasgow presented him, on their voidance, to the said bishop, who instituted him, under pretext of which presentation and institution he obtained possession, and has detained them for about eleven years in good faith. The said presentation and institution being therefore without force, the pope hereby orders the above official to collate and assign to him the said canonry and prebend, value 15l. sterling. The pope further dispenses him to use and minister in the said orders, even in the ministry of the altar, and to receive and retain the said canonry and prebend and any other three compatible benefices with or without cure, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the constitutions of Otto and Ottobon, sometime legates in England, etc. Before these presents are executed, he is to resign the said canonry and prebend.
